My Poppet. Pearthree. Handmade stencils and silhouettes. My new friend, Heika DeHart, shared these images of her daughter Aspen’s adorable bedroom.

Handmade stencils and silhouettes

Nearly every decoration in the room was created from scratch by Heika herself. My favorite project is the stunning dresser. I loved the result so much, I asked her to share her instructions. She tells how she made her own stencils, how she cut silhouettes of her daughter, and more. Thanks, Heika! How to: Stenciled dresser I bought this old dresser at a university auction for $15. Supplies and tools sand paper or steel wool paint roller and tray (if latex paint is used) interior latex paint or spray paint polyurethane clear finish (optional) stencil adhesive spray sponge paint brush butcher paper craft knife (such as an X-Acto knife) overhead projector glass drawer pulls 1. 2. Latex interior paint: I recommend rolling it on rather than using a paintbrush where possible because the result is smoother.

Spray paint: This is my preferred method of painting furniture. 3. Happy Hippity Hop! We're taking a long weekend off here for the Easter break (we're working on a new website with hopes of getting a bit more done with the extra day tucked in there).

A fun Sunday detour. Check below for a link to her blog as she'll be giving away some of them from there. A while ago, I received this awesome leather punch set from EviesToolEmporium as part of the Totally Tutorials Exchange program and I could hardly wait to make something with my new toys! In Belgium, lots of people make an Easter tree as decoration. All bare branches are dressed up with decorative eggs and ribbons. Here is what you need to make them:Thick felt (3mm), a leather punch, string, small wooden beads (6mm), scissors, a drawing of a bird, a pencil and a bit of thin metal wire. If you want you can click on the picture below and print out this bird. Cut out the bird. Punch the holes so that you can mark their position on the felt later.

Place the bird on the felt and trace with a pencil. I like lots of colors! Then mark the position of the holes with a pencil on the birds. Make a knot at the ends. Bijoux de papier - virginie etc...
