Caro Duchamp ti scrivo… Carissimo Marcel è da tanto che volevo scriverti; di anno in anno ho rimandato pensando che la cosa si sarebbe risolta ma niente, non c’è nulla da fare: parlare di te e dei tuoi lavori nell’ora di storia dell’arte è una missione suicida! Tu te la ridi, lo so. Anzi stai proprio a sghignazzare in attesa di quello studente che apre il libro al capitolo Dada, sgrana gli occhi davanti a quel tuo maledetto orinatoio e immancabilmente domanda “Prof. ma questa è arte? Potevo farlo pure io…”. E mentre tu ti stai già sbellicando io puntualmente conto fino a dieci per non sbattermi la testa al muro e comincio a spiegare, per l’ennesima volta, che quel tuo cavolo di orinatoio non solo è arte, ma è un capolavoro!
Pure tu, però… come ti è saltato in mente di fare quella roba là? Il Dadaismo nasce nel bel mezzo della prima guerra mondiale, la Grande Guerra. At first glance, it appears to be little more than an ordinary perfume bottle, although readers of French might confuse it with a mouth wash, which, if consumed, would give them, as the label indicates, belle haleine [beautiful breath].
