Flower Beards - Carissa Gallo. Photographer Jamil Hellu Takes People and Makes Them into Superheroes. GUARDIANS OF MUSEUMS.

I found the guards as intriguing to observe as the pieces they watch over. In conversation they told me how much they like being among Russia’s great art.

From its completion in 1931 until construction of the World Trade Center’s North Tower in 1972, the Empire State Building stood as the tallest building in the world.

As of 2012, it is the 15th tallest skyscraper in the world and the fourth tallest free standing structure in the Americas. At 102 floors and a roof height of 1,250 feet (381 meters), the Empire State Building was constructed in a mind-blowing 410 days. It was finished three months early and drastically under budget due to reduced building costs during the Depression [Source]. The incredible gallery below was made available by the New York Public Library.

The views of New York City in the background of many of the photos give the viewers a sense of the dizzying heights these fearless workers operated at. . – The Empire State Building was designed by William F. .

Steve Gschmeissner | How Some Landscape Photos Are Actually Made. EmailEmail What does spilled paprika powder and planet Mars have in common? To a New Jersey-based artist Matthew Albanese, the visually similar color and texture of the two lead to creating a meticulous diorama of Mars, and then photographing it in a way that you wouldn’t think it’s fake. Eventually this revelation resulted in the “Strange World” series, where the artist uses various condiments to make incredible miniature landscapes that look like photos.

Matthew’s work starts by walking down the isles of the supermarkets, looking for material that he could possibly make use of. One diorama takes around a month to create, and Matthew needs around 500 shots of each of them before he’s pleased with the result. By using forced perspective, carefully planned lighting and photographing his miniatures from a specific angle, Matthew can make you believe he was actually there when the volcano erupted or the storm started.

All images © Nicolai Howalt | Via: Bit Rebels. Jocelyn Allen | One Is Not Like The Other.
