De hecho, su influencia se extiende hasta el punto en que se hace imposible entender plenamente la actual obra de arquitectos como Rem Koolhaas sin su influencia directa. El caldo de cultivo en el que brota una figura como la de Robert Venturi, estaba abonado por el desencanto hacia la modernidad convertida en dogma exhausto en los años 60. Su “Complexity and Contradiction”, libro al que debe su inmediato y enorme éxito, fue un auténtico revulsivo. Hay arquitectos que pasan a la historia por mucho menos que por un libro brillante, Venturi acometió además, obras de valor y otro libro aun más temible que el anterior: “Learning from las Vegas”. En el sutil cambio de actitud entre ambos se sitúa la mejor explicación de la arquitectura posmoderna y sus resultados.
