The plot is surrounded on three sides cy the road, and on the fourth by semi-detached house. Zoning requirements demanded hip roof with round tiles. Concept The house is divided in two separate buildings: the main – family house and accessory – guest house. Atrium Atrium, besides obstructions of views, allows shading in the summer so necessary in this climate zone.

The park is surrounded by the mountains Plješevica, Mala Kapela, and Medveđak, which are part of the Dinaric Alps. The 16 blue-green Plitvice Lakes, which are separated by natural dams of travertine, are situated on the Plitvice plateau. Waterfalls connect the lakes, and the tallest waterfall is Veliki Slap at 70 meters (230 feet) tall.

The Plitvice lakes area boasts a large variety of interesting and colorful flora and fauna. Visitors can enjoy walking and hiking the many pathways and trails, or exploring the lakes by boat. Project Area: 2,179 sqm Design Year: 2007-2008 Construction Year: 2009-2010 Photographs: Miljenko Bernfest & Aleksandar Markovic While working on this project the main question that was raised was how to integrate a contemporary facility into the existing ambient of a small Istrian town, how to incorporate something modern into the existing area, which in itself entails a string of details and functions that considerably vary from the rural image of surrounding households, all the while striving to keep the balance with the community in general. The investors’ request (two friends) was that two identical country retreats be situated on the lot with a joint swimming pool and accompanying details.

The architectural concept of the building is in our opinion contextual as it appreciates the topography which suggests building terraces between two parallel streets each on a different elevation. It’s easy to conclude that the center got its name from its cross section. Rural Mat / njiric+ arhitekti. Zagreb Dance Center / 3LHD

The City of Zagreb, who is the owner of the old cinema Lika, decided to reuse the space for new cultural facilities. In that scenario old cinema Lika was given the role of a new dance centre. Fifty years of contemporary dance culture in Zagreb has produced about 40 dance troops, with this project all of them will have a new home in the city centre. The cinema is located in a derelict residential block only 100 meters away from the Zagreb’s main square. Lapidarium Museum / Randić & Turato. Architects: Randić & Turato / Saša Randić and Idis Turato Location: Novigrad, Croatia Client: Town Novigrad Collaborator: Leora Drazul (Technical Architect) Construction: Dragan Ribaric Commission type: Invited Competition Project Area: 780 sqm Project year: 2003 Construction year: 2006 Photographs: Randić & Turato Novigrad Lapidarium Museum houses the collection of early medieval monuments, architectural sculpture and church furnishings, which all come from the neighboring cathedral.

Lapidarium Museum / Randić & Turato

Building is situated inside the park bordered by the cathedral and residential buildings on the other sides. One of the specifics of Novigrad, in comparison with other historical towns on the western coast of Istria, is that it has a large proportion of parks inside the historical city structure. This condition has been recognized as significant for the project. Lapidarium is essentially two black boxes and the park. Emergency Terminal / Produkcija 004. Zamet Centre / 3LHD. Project name: Zamet Centre Program: Public, cultural, business, sport Location: B.

Zamet Centre / 3LHD

Situated in Rijeka’s quarter Zamet, the new Zamet Centre in complete size of 16830 m2 hosts various facilities: sports hall with max 2380 seats, local community offices, library, 13 retail and service spaces and a garage with 250 parking spaces. One third of the sports hall’s volume is cut in the ground, and the rest of the Centre is fully fitted into the surrounding landscape. The building’s main architectural element are ribbon-like linear stripes stretching over the site in a north-south direction, functioning at the same time as an architectural design element of the object and as a zoning element which forms a public square and a link between the park on the north and school and B. Vidas street on the south. The stripes were inspired by “gromača”, a type of rocks specific to Rijeka, which the centre artificially reinterprets by colour and shape.
