In 1996 when Apple was seemingly on the ropes, Adobe made a crucial business decision and one that is coming back to bite them in the ass. They declared that their primary development platform would be Windows; subsequently, every new application or major revision of a product was introduced for Windows first and followed months later, sometimes never at all, by a Mac version. After Steve Jobs took over and he was charting out a new course with OS X, Apple reached out many times to Abode to introduce a native version of their suite for the new OS. Adobe never committed – standing by its prediction that OS X would never gain momentum or share and it would ride the Windows ascendancy. Adobe thought that it had the dominant hand and displayed its arrogance in public. ZDNet, 2001 : http://innerdaemon.wordpress.com/2010/04/10/sorry-adobe-you-screwed-yourself/

Shanghai 2010: The Pavilions | ArchDaily

Taiwan Back on March we featured a fantastic set of photos of the pavilions for Shanghai World Expo 2010 almost finished. Now, with only three days left for the grand opening to the public, the pavilions seem to be ready for the more than 70 million people expected to visit the Expo between April 30 and October 31.

Did you know that if Facebook was a country, it would now be the third largest country in the world? It passed the U.S. earlier this year and is now eclipsed only by China and India in terms of raw population. That mind-boggling statistic — along with a few dozen more — are showcased in the video below, demonstrating social media’s explosive growth in recent years. The video, produced by Socialnomics author Erik Qualman, is a follow-up piece to his original social media stats video from last summer. While some of the stats are similar to last year’s version, others are updated with new figures and some appear for the first time.

In a recent presentation, How to Start a Company While Still in School , I said it was important to be open, take risks and be strategic. That’s absolutely true. In the presentation I said, “I’m seeking startup people.” Originally I had written on the presentation slide, “I’m seeking smart people” but I changed it for a very specific reason: Of course they matter, but being ultra-smart isn’t enough to be a successful entrepreneur. You have to be ultra-opportunistic.
