grain edit · Heartwork: Art Benefit for Target House

Heartwork is a project designed to raise money for art supplies within the art room at Target House —this wonderful home-away-from-home for the families of children facing long-term treatment at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The idea is simple. Every year, a group of talented artists will create a series of posters to raise money for the art room .

http://www.designworklife.com/2011/08/30/radio-illustration-collective/ Radio is a South Africa-based illustration and design collective made up of Brad Hodgskiss, Byron Meiring and Gert Schoeman. Based on the impressive range of work in their portfolio, some of which you can see below, they are definitely a group to keep an eye on. I certainly will be.

“A series of informative posters detailing how some of the most notable drum sequences were programmed using the Roland TR-808 Drum Machine. Each sequence has been analyzed and represented as to allow users to re-programme each sequence, key for key.” I’ve seen some of this footage before but never heard the commentary. The narrators go into some really interesting detail on the tech involved in capturing the film footage of Shuttle launches. Most of the footage is for review purposes but some is purely documentary.

Jasper Goodall: Artist

When I was approached to reinterpret the Johnnie Walker Striding Man logo I knew almost straight away what I wanted to do. I recalled, during a visit to a whisky distillery years ago, the guide telling me how slowly, over time, a small amount of whisky evaporates and escapes the barrel, this is known as the 'angels’ share' and I felt that rendering the striding man in 'smoke' would be the perfect expression of this concept. http://www.jaspergoodall.com/
