Sewing 101: making a pouf. Add a burst of color to your room with this crafty pouf!
At 17” wide and 10” deep, it’s large enough to serve as floor seating or a foot stool. (And if you have pets, I have a feeling they may want to make this their new favorite spot!) This project is a little challenging to sew, but it’s not too difficult, so if you’re comfortable with the basics of sewing, give it a try. You can make a colorwheel effect with a range of solid colors, or choose a variety of patterned fabrics for a louder patchwork effect. Medium-weight cottons work well for this design (check out quilting shops for great selections of solids and prints). I love the idea of making a set of these poufs in a range of sizes, for a sculptural stack of cushions that will become a room element in their own right. Le pouf Mummy (+tuto en français) - Fée Niasse ! Au début était le pouf de chez AMPM, objet de toutes les convoitises, beau,simple, bien rembourré, il avait tout pour plaire le filou.
A part peut-être son prix. Même si honnêtement je ne crois pas qu'il soit plus rentable de le faire soi-même (entre le fil, le crochet et surtout le rembourrage), c'est une fois de plus le "challenge" qui m'a poussé à tenter l'expérience. J'allais donc faire mon premier pouf. Pression maximum.Il suffisait donc de trouver le fil adéquat et le tuto.Pour le fil donc, j'ai jeté mon dévolu sur le fil Zpagetti de Hoooked en jersey coton (pelote d'environ un kilo, ou plus, trop marrante, idéal pour éviter à avoir à remplir des centaines de fils) , qui se crochète en 12 (autrement dit un rouleau à patisserie).
Pour le tuto, ça s'est compliqué, rien en français, rien de vraiment basique. En rose, forcément! Bon, je peux pas vous dire au niveau du crash-test ce que ça donne ! Temps de réalisation : 2,3 grosses soirées. Puff Daddy - knitted stool. Puff is the Norwegian word for stool.
We really liked the pouf from Christien Meinderstsma, but it´s way out of our price range. This simple pattern for a knitted stool has much thinner yarn, but the budget is just as thin;) Nice to rest your legs on, and very popular for the kids. What we used:Eskimo, 18 balls (Or yarn suitable for US #13 needles)Acrylic yarn would probably be a really good alternative, as it´s a piece of furnitureUS #19 circular needles2 cheap duves (feather and down) How we did it:Cast on 35 stitches using three threads.Knit the garter stitch until you´ve knitted all the balls, and there is just enough yarn left to asseble the stool. You now have ONE rectangular piece.Cast off loosely. Assemble the first long side. Stuff the duves into the stool. Assemble the other end in the same manner as the first. And there you go!
