Fancy Caramel Toffee Shortbread Bars…OK, Fine – Homemade Twix

And as translated by some, I’ve been accused of being a food snob. My rebuttal is always, “We all have our snobbery.” If food is my worst snobbery I will take it with a glass of wine in one hand a Twinkie in the other. So how the hell does snobbery play into this post? I’ll tell you. Luckily, it doesn’t pain me to say — they are right.

Brown Sugar Cookies with Sea Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate

There are times that I wish I could just do things over again. Like the fact that I should have embraced my curly hair looooooooooong before I actually did. All of those bad yearbook photos and my poor, poor curling iron – it never expected to be used as a straightener. I also would probably not have pierced my bellybutton. I think I wore that thing for 2 years, got sick of it and just took it out. I would have embraced my love of Dave Matthews Band and Pat Green earlier than when I was in college. Or what about the time that punched my sister and sent her to the hospital? Grilled Avocados. Avocados have been a mainstay of my culinary life for about as long as I can remember.

Grilled Avocados

Growing up in Southern California in the 60's, avocados were locally grown, plentiful and part of just about every party and celebration, usually in the form of guacamole. But all that changed and guacamole became the springboard for a host of dishes, sweet and savory, but for me, nothing beats a plain slice of perfectly ripe avocado. It really needs nothing to enhance its lusciousness, but then.... The other day as I was listening to one of my food podcasts, Evan Kleiman was interviewing an avocado grower who mentioned that one of his favorite ways to eat avocados is to grill them. What?! THAT night I’m so grilling an avocado. Remove it from your grill and and sprinkle with a little lime juice and salt. Here's a quick and easy salsa recipe.

Dump it all in the blender and process until it becomes a harmonious blend of salsa goodness. Taste and add more salt, cayenne or cilantro if needed. I don't always cook, but when I do I prefer to cook comically. 9 Foods for Great Skin - Ban Blemishes. Rustic New Potato and Bean Salad. Everyday Recipes — Page 4. Helloooo!
