6 Weird Facts About Gravity | Gravitation | Space and Earth Science

http://www.livescience.com/14012-6-weird-facts-gravity.html Gravity: You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone Here on Earth, we take gravity so for granted that it took an apple falling from a tree to trigger Isaac Newton's theory of gravitation. But gravity, which draws objects together in proportion to their mass, is about much more than fallen fruit.

The theory of dissipative structure upon which the current discussion is based can be treated as the open systems model extended with a capability to continuously impose a revolutionary change or transformation. The theory of dissipative structure Pioneered by the Brussels school of thought in the 1970s (Prigogine, 1976; Nicolis and Prigogine, 1977, 1989; Prigogine and Stengers, 1984), this theory is firmly rooted in physics and chemistry.

A dielectric is an electrical insulator that can be polarized by an applied electric field . When a dielectric is placed in an electric field, electric charges do not flow through the material as they do in a conductor , but only slightly shift from their average equilibrium positions causing dielectric polarization . Because of dielectric polarization, positive charges are displaced toward the field and negative charges shift in the opposite direction.

aka Order, Autopoesis, Negentropy, Extropy Lovelock on Negentropy (Inverse Entropy, Negative Entropy) "The great physicist Ludwig Boltzmann expressed the meaning of the second law in an equation of great seemliness and simplicity: S=k(lnP), where S is that strange quantity entropy; k is a constant rightly called the Boltzmann constant; and lnP is the natural logarithm of the probability. It means what it says--the less probable something is, the lower its entropy.
