For everyone out there who doubts that social technology can produce significant hard ROI, a new report from McKinsey & Company should quell your concerns. McKinsey estimates that the use of social technologies to improve communication and collaboration within and across enterprises could contribute two-thirds of the US$ 900 billion to US$ 1.3 trillion in annual value it estimates social technology can create across the four commercial sectors of consumer packaged goods (CPG), consumer financial services, professional services and advanced manufacturing sectors.

It's Official: Social Media Users Happier With Google+ Than With Facebook | Gadget Lab. Photo: Ariel Zambelich/Wired As ubiquitous as Facebook is, it turns out a lot of people don’t actually like using the social network giant. On the other hand, users are giving Google+ a warmer reception than they did before.

The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI), which measures the customer satisfaction of businesses across 47 industries, released its latest report for e-business on Tuesday. The survey reveals customer satisfaction levels for social media platforms, search engines and portals, and news and information sites. Of the 20 companies featured in the report, Facebook took the biggest hit in customer satisfaction this year, dropping from a mediocre 66 out of 100 rating last year to an even less satisfactory score of 61 this year. This makes Facebook among the five lowest-scoring companies of the 230 companies measured in ACSI’s reports.

Sorry, Marketers, You're Doing Twitter Wrong [REPORT] Getting the Most Out of Facebook Ads. When General Motors pulled its advertising from Facebook, many took it as an indication that the social network’s ad products didn’t work. But in reality, the pullout tells a different story, says a new report by eMarketer. The report, “Facebook Advertising: Why the Marketplace Ad Platform Deserves a Second Look,” analyzes more than a dozen third-party research studies and interviews with industry executives that demonstrate consensus on a number of issues, including the effectiveness of Facebook’s ad products. According to the report, doubts persist over the effectiveness of Facebook’s Premium ad products. However, Facebook’s self-serve advertising platform, Marketplace, is gaining new prominence as a result.

In May 2012, Facebook announced that it would start allowing advertisers to place Premium ads in users’ news feeds by tapping the technology that supports Marketplace. The change is expected to inspire marketers with bigger budgets to begin using the automated system.
