Fashion Inspired by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. If you’ve been keeping up with the Geek Chic column or if you read the post featuring fashion inspired by The Lord of the Rings, you may have noticed that I have a serious love for fantasy films and novels.

Fashion Inspired by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I’m practically foaming at the mouth to see the first installment of Peter Jackson’s long-awaited adaptation of The Hobbit. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey premieres December 14th and stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Christopher Lee, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Ian Holmes and Elijah Wood also briefly reprise their roles as older Bilbo and Frodo Baggins. (And yes, ye Legolas lovers, Orlando Bloom will also be making an appearance.) Below, I’ll break down some fashion inspired by the film. Know Your Geek: About The Hobbit J.R.R. Esmeralda from Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. While irresistibly beautiful and charming, she is also brave enough to stand up for what she believes in, even when it puts her life in danger. Not only is Esmerelda’s personality uplifting, but her gypsy fashion sense is inspirational. Like the previous articles in this series, the purpose of this article is to use a childhood idol as inspiration for outfits that you can actually pull off as a college student. (Admit it!) Between the anime show, the Nintendo games, and the ubiquitous trading cards, Pokémon definitely took the elementary and middle school set by storm. It’s pretty clear that there were two kinds of Pokémon fans: the diehards who really did wanna be the very best and could list off any Pokémon’s stats and powers at the drop of the hat; and the casual fans who just watched the show and really only cared about the Pokémon that were “cute.” (I fell squarely in the second camp.) But no matter which category you’re in, we can agree on one thing: Pokémon. Fashion Inspired by Marvel’s The Avengers. Fashion Inspired by Supernatural. Photo credit Ever since the Geek Chic column began earlier this year, CF readers have been requesting a post on Supernatural.

This posed a problem for me, though: Although I’d heard about the show and even attended its Comic-Con panel a couple years ago, I’d never actually watched an episode. Fast forward a couple months and multiple Netflix marathons, and I can now use Dean’s catchphrase with conviction: Supernatural is awesome. Fashion Inspired by the Original Star Wars Trilogy. Fashion Inspired by the Original Star Wars Trilogy

Originally, the Geek Chic post about Star Wars wasn’t going to be posted until early May (to commemorate Star Wars Day…May the 4th be with you!). From your comments, though, it seems that lots of CF readers are also big fans of the series, so why wait? Most of us grew up with the theatrical releases of the flashier prequel films, but it’s the original Star Wars trilogy, which starred Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, that will always be the cult classic. The saga has thoroughly pervaded modern popular culture: even if you’ve never seen the films, you’ve likely heard or used the phrases “May the Force be with you,” “I have a bad feeling about this,” or “It’s a trap!”

Advancements in technology have transformed the way that we correspond with others in the modern world. Because of the constant buzz in our technological world, it's easy to forget how important communicating face-to-face is. When conversing old-school style, it's not only speech we verbalize that matters, but what our nonverbal gestures articulate as well. Body language is truly a language of its own.
