Secrets of The Shining - Or How Faking the Moon Landings Nearly Cost Stanley Kubrick his Marriage and his Life

http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/luna/luna_apollomissions10.htm by Jay Weidner July 20, 2009 from JayWeidner Website The Shining is surely Stanley Kubrick 's most misunderstood masterpiece. I use the word 'masterpiece' guardedly because I have never really thought that The Shining was a very good film. At the time, in 1980 when I first saw it, I didn't like it at all.

Yeti Expedition Confirms Existence - Home

Ever feel like your job is a bit of a waste of time? That, unless you're saving lives or inspiring young minds, you might as well not even bother? Well, spare a thought for the research team that were sent to hunt down the Yeti in Siberia last week. The group (a combination of Russians, Americans, Canadians and other nationalities) were invited to evaluate evidence of the mythical snow creature's existence and share stories of their experiences. Today, the local administration of the Kemerovo region confirmed on its website that "indisputable proof" has been found that confirms the Yeti, also known as Abominable Snowman, exists.

From the Holy Land to England: A Cultural History of the Letter Q | Isn’t it infomantic?

http://infomantic.net/2010/11/02/from-the-holy-land-to-england-a-cultural-history-of-the-letter-q/ Q is a rather unassuming letter, unable to appear in any common words without u by its side. It is the second least commonly used letter in the English alphabet, outstripping only z in popularity. But this apparent humbleness belies the long and occasionally dramatic journey that q took to become part of the English alphabet. Q began its odyssey in the scripts of various Semitic languages that arose in the Middle East some time between 2000 and 1200 BCE.

Jesus' Teaching on Hell

Revised and Expanded September 2007 Copyright © 1996, revised © 2004, expanded © 2007 by Samuel G. Dawson This essay is from the book The Teaching of Jesus: From Mount Sinai to Gehenna: A Faithful Rabbi Urgently Warns Rebellious Israel, and from the book Essays on Eschatology: An Introductory Overview of the Study of Last Things. See Rights Notice below Most of what we believe about hell comes from Catholicism and ignorance of the Old Testament, not from the Bible. This study will cause you to re-examine current teaching on hell and urge you to further study on what happens to the wicked after death.

Peppermint earns respect in mainstream medicine

http://www.adelaide.edu.au/news/news44321.html Tuesday, 19 April 2011 University of Adelaide researchers have shown for the first time how peppermint helps to relieve Irritable Bowel Syndrome , which affects up to 20% of the population. In a paper published this week in the international journal Pain , researchers from the University's Nerve-Gut Research Laboratory explain how peppermint activates an "anti-pain" channel in the colon, soothing inflammatory pain in the gastrointestinal tract. Dr Stuart Brierley says while peppermint has been commonly prescribed by naturopaths for many years, there has been no clinical evidence until now to demonstrate why it is so effective in relieving pain. "Our research shows that peppermint acts through a specific anti-pain channel called TRPM8 to reduce pain sensing fibres, particularly those activated by mustard and chilli. This is potentially the first step in determining a new type of mainstream clinical treatment for Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)," he says.
29 March 2011 Last updated at 01:30 ET By Robert Pigott BBC News religious affairs correspondent They could be the earliest Christian writing in existence, surviving almost 2,000 years in a Jordanian cave. They could, just possibly, change our understanding of how Jesus was crucified and resurrected, and how Christianity was born. A group of 70 or so "books", each with between five and 15 lead leaves bound by lead rings, was apparently discovered in a remote arid valley in northern Jordan somewhere between 2005 and 2007. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12888421

Jordan battles to regain 'priceless' Christian relics

Francesca Stavrakopoulou of the University of Exeter is throwing new light on the theory, suggesting that God had a wife who was edited out of the Bible. In 1967, historian Raphael Patai mentioned that the ancient Israelites worshiped both Yahweh and Asherah, according to Discovery News. You might know him as Yahweh, Allah or God. But on this fact, Jews, Muslims and Christians, the people of the great Abrahamic religions, are agreed: There is only one of Him, Stavrakopoulou wrote in a recent article.

So Donald Trump wants to run for the Republican ticket, eh? He's going to have some trouble explaining this away . As America's middle class battles for its survival on the Wisconsin barricades -- against various Koch Oil surrogates and the corporate toadies at Fox News -- fans of enlightenment, democracy and justice can take comfort from a significant victory north of Wisconsin border. Fox News will not be moving into Canada after all! The reason: Canada regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news. Canada's Radio Act requires that "a licenser may not broadcast....any false or misleading news."

It was etched in the blood of a dictator in a ghoulish bid for piety. Over the course of two painstaking years in the late 1990s, Saddam Hussein had sat regularly with a nurse and an Islamic calligrapher; the former drawing 27 litres of his blood and the latter using it as a macabre ink to transcribe a Qur'an. But since the fall of Baghdad, almost eight years ago, it has stayed largely out of sight - locked away behind three vaulted doors. It is the one part of the ousted tyrant's legacy that Iraq has simply not known what to do with.
