Photograph: Reuters In an increasingly interconnected world, educators, employers and communities all want to see students developing as global citizens; young people that are internationally-aware, tolerant, and able to communicate with people from range of cultures, backgrounds and traditions. Working at a small school we were aware that we needed to present the wider world to children in a more engaging way but no one was sure how. At the conference I met lots of inspiring teachers, all of whom had fantastic stories of collaboration and pupil engagement with the wider world. I came away with lots of leaflets, information and ideas. After a couple of days I sifted through the information I had gathered and stumbled upon some information on eTwinning - an online community and collaboration space for schools and further education colleges across Europe.

Once registered, I began to explore the website and found a range of projects covering every subject possible. Following this initial project I found myself hooked. So what makes eTwinning so unique? In collaboration with Yvonne I have been able to visit schools in the Netherlands.
