Tanzania Presidential Campaing - Clerics to candidates: Sell policies, not personality issues

Religious leaders yesterday called on presidential candidates to use their campaigns to explain how their parties will deal with problems affecting ordinary citizens instead of pushing personal issues. Archbishop Paul Ruzoka of Tabora Catholic arch-diocese made the call on behalf of the team of clerics in Dar es Salaam when responding to reporters’ questions who had sought the religious leaders’ position on the tendency by some politicians to address personal issues at the expense of policy matters. “It is not appropriate in the first place to discuss personal life because in human perspective, no one is clean,” said Ruzoka. He was briefing members of the press after a team of religious leaders visited the Chadema party headquarters as emissaries of peace ahead of the October general election.
