Very Simple Baby Mitts. The small human has been growing quite a bit (as they do), and my usual trick of pulling cardigan or jacket sleeves down over her hands when out & about isn't quite keeping her hands warm anymore.
I decided to whip up a pair of mittens for her. These took 2 (short) evenings to make. The first pair I made from a Debbie Bliss pattern, and they don't fit him very well. I guess sometimes you need to do things wrong, before you can figure out how to do them right! Anyway, I thought I would share how I made these socks, in case you feel like making some for a special little one you know. The pattern does not have a lot details, so if you do try them out, let me know if I can add anything useful (or if I've made a mistake, which is quite possible considering how much sleep I get these days). It’s that time of year when I start frantically making sure my family has warm things to cover their heads, hands, and feet, because the weather has decided it’s pretty much winter. Since I have a wee little one this year, I got to make the simplest, quickest pair of mittens there is. Chunky mittens with no thumbs! Just a cuff, and a hand! Mitten Appeal. My beautiful baby Cassie arrived 6 weeks early last Thursday.
She was taken from me and rushed to NICU. After several days of uncertainty, Cassie is well enough to be moved to SCBU. She is an absolute terror for pulling out her feeding tubes, so the subject of mittens was brought up whilst I was visiting her yesterday. The unit has an abundance of knitted items, hats, blankets, booties, but is always running low on mittens. I would like to get a stash of mittens together for them. Materials. Any soft wool can be used. I made this pattern up, there may be similar or better patterns that you would like to use.
