Chunky knit beanie. Tropical Twist Hat. First off, I have to say it: I've been having a great time taking my knitting photos in my yard, even if my neighbors now think I'm nuts (and they definitely do).
But I don't care, because the Tropical Twist Hat looks great out in the wild. Sure, it's nothing fancy - just some alternating cables - but it's a nice, clean, unisex design that takes variegation well. And sometimes, that's all you need! Yarn: Cascade Yarns 220 Superwash Paints (100% Hand Painted Superwash Wool; 220 yards [200 meters]/100 grams); #9859 Tropical Punch - one skein Needles: One 16" circular needle in size US 6, one set of double pointed needles (dpns), also in size US 6, and one cable needle (cn) or dpn for cabling (or you can always cable without a needle, if you'd prefer) Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch marker. Hat-a-Neckwarmer - Free Knitting Pattern. It's a hat!
It's a neckwarmer! It's a cowl! It's a headband! It's something in between and the best of both worlds! By the way, we definitely need to have a new word for this type of convertible cowl/hat. Well, linguistic shenanigans aside, back to today's topic. Twisted Reversible Hat. CO = cast on Directions Spiral Pattern Just keep working *k2p2* !!

First tropical storm of the year came through Delaware yesterday and Schnapps stayed inside and knit this hat.
It's a light, airy knit, even though the model was knit using 6-weight yarn. Thank you Betty for the name and Tracey for having supplied the yarn! This week Schnapps has also been working on some items for the MEGSTRONG fundraiser in August. Old Glory Hat — a free knitting pattern. As a lifelong Alaskan I am familiar with how unpredictable the weather is.
We tend to hope for the best and plan for the worst, which is why I’ve decided to design a winter hat in the summertime. Fourth of July in Alaska can be a bit of a downer. For one thing, the sun doesn’t really set so fireworks are pretty lame. Also, it’s sometimes cold, rainy and windy; but we Alaskans don’t let a little crappy weather get in the way of summer holiday fun. Free knitting pattern: Juxtapose: A Cabled Beanie. I love to knit cables.
There’s something really fun about watching them form beneath my fingers, and the resulting texture is great. This free knitting pattern is a tribute to cables, and features three cable variations. This post contains affiliate links. The yarn for the sample was generously provided by Quaere Fibre. There’s a large, forked cable in the center, which makes a dramatic centerpiece, and then mirrored cables on each side. This is knit seamlessly in the round, and looks great from the back, too. This hat only measures 18.5” (47 cm) in circumference, but it’s super stretchy so it will fit a variety of teen and adult heads. I knit it using some stunning hand dyed yarn by Quaere Fibre on Etsy. Free Pattern - Things We Do Blog. As winter come I always have a sudden urge to knit scarfs, cowls, hats and gloves.
So when Jane asked me to knit her a basic wool hat, I was more than happy. I had a full freedom to choose the design and pattern of the hat. We have discussed with Jane that the colors of the hat should fit her winter outwear. So when I came to the yarn shop I chose dark grey and milk white skeins of PERU Yarna Wool. Materials. Brimfold. Natasha Slouchy Hat Pattern – Threaded Together. I’m a bit uninspired for a blog post today.
There is really not much new going on in my life right now. We are still building kitchen cabinets and it is still COLD outside. Winter break has begun for my children so we are spending longer and longer in our pajamas each morning. Despite my hum drum days, I still wanted to share this new hat pattern with you while it is fresh in my brain. Natasha is a super chunky hat made from Lion Brand’s Wool Ease Thick and Quick, and there is no doubt your ears will stay warm wearing this one. Simple DIY pom-pom + Addie's hat. Pom-poms have become very popular in the craft world over the past couple years. They. Are. Everywhere! Atop hats, replacing flowers, in garlands, edges of blankets and pillow corners, rugs, and more. I briefly looked up DIY ways to make them but hastily decided it would just be easier and better to use the tool whose sole purpose in life was to produce perfect pom-poms. Mine is approximately 4 inches tall and 4¾ inches wide, with a window measuring 1⅞ x 1½ inches. 1 Lay the tail of your yarn vertically, on top of the pom-pom maker. One of the reasons I leaned towards buying a pom-pom maker at first was because I thought the trimming step at the end would get crazy messy, waste lots of yarn, and be frustrating.

Fishtail Hat - A Chunky and beautiful hat to warm you up. Search this site Custom Search A story behind the fishtail hat. There is always a story behind everything including this Fishtail hat. It began with one cold and windy morning in January at our school bus stop. Many school kids were out playing while waiting for the morning school bus to pick them up. Well, to make a long story short. ** Update, the nanny likes the hat a lot. Description: A simple, fishtail lace hat for women or perhaps some men might like it too. Finished sized: Head circumference measured 20 inches at rest and it can stretch up to 23 inches. Balls to the Walls Knits: Slip-Stitch Mesh Fingerless Gloves. Balls to the Walls Knits: Slip-Stitch Mesh Hat. After I finished the Slip-Stitch Mesh Fingerless Gloves, I figured I had just enough yarn left in my skein for a hat.
And it seemed like a good idea to make a hat that matched the gloves, since they're knit from the same stuff and all. So, if you're interested in knitting the smaller size of the gloves and the hat as written (I give a variation to make it slightly larger below, and I'm not sure you have enough yarn to accomplish it if you're making the gloves too), you can probably do it with just one ball. Otherwise, of course, they're both good stash projects that don't use too much yardage!
