Comic Artist Aaron Diaz Pitches A Gender-swapped ‘Legend of Zelda’ Well, technically not actually gender-swapped since both Link and eternal damsel Zelda are still Link and Zelda.

But Diaz has come up with a pitch where Zelda is "an aspiring battle mage" while Link is a sheltered prince unaware of the turmoil in his kingdom in "The Legend of Zelda: Clockwork Empire. " Aaron Diaz is the creator of "Desden Codak," a webcomic featuring, among other things, a dimension-hopping robot girl and Tiny Carl Jung. Diaz says he was inspired to create "Clockwork Empire" based on the work of games critic and documentarian Anita Sarkeesian's "Tropes vs. Women. " Explaining the story, Diaz says: Clockwork Empire is set 2,000 years after Twilight Princess, and is not a reboot, but simply another iteration in the Zelda franchise. It just so happens that in this case, Zelda is the protagonist. The key point here is that Zelda's the protagonist but Diaz (wisely) didn't necessarily make Link the victim.
