The good news is… I made you bread. It tastes like pizza. It’s swirled with piles of grated provolone and spicy pepperoni and a nice little mixture of Italian seasoning [...that came out of a tube]. Yeah. We all do it. The bad news is that it disappeared. Like… all of it. At best I could dig the foil out of the trash for you that enveloped this loaf for a full 13 minutes before complete domination took over. See, bread if my favorite thing to make. I want to dive headfirst into this pepperoni roll on steroids and doggy paddle through every cheesy swirl.

But that would be a lie. This bread is just like all those other breads. Completely devourable and best served in skinny slices since they are virtually calorie-free. But you know that by now. And you’re totally freaking out about those black specks all over the top, but it’s just that weirdo sugar + chocolate + coffee grinder from Trader Joe’s. This marked the second time I busted out the Trader Joe’s chocolate coffee grinder; the third being yesterday morning when I threw it on top of some oatmeal.

Don’t judge. So yeah. On an unrelated note, can you tell me how in the world it is September 1st? Chocolate Chunk Oatmeal Cookie Bread makes one loaf 1/4 cup of butter, softened 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 large egg 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 1 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour {or all-purpose} 1 cup old fashioned oats 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 1/4 teaspoon salt. You probably haven’t noticed. But this recipe is better. This recipe contains one of the best combinations known to man: chocolate, peanut butter and banana. I have loved it since I was young, though I do have to admit that we used to make it out of a box. How dare we! I even think my grandmother made hers out of a box? How dare she! I will have to double check. I stumbled upon this banana bread recipe one evening when I was craving banana bread, but – oh gosh, it’s true – RAN OUT OF SUGAR. So I hurrily searched for a recipe using only brown sugar.

Or not. Anyway, I found this recipe from the excellent chefs of Chez us posted on Tasty Kitchen. This site was created by Ree, ThePioneerWoman, who is INCREDIBLE. Back to this banana bread. Oops. From making pumpkin cookies, and didn’t want it to go to waste. I am trying to not be as wasteful, and as you saw from my fridge last week, with only 2 of us in the house it is difficult. I knew if I made a ‘normal’ sized bread that one of two things would happen. I would eat the entire thing, crying the next morning as I tried to fit into my clothes. I opted to make these mini breads so I could beg someone to take them off my hands. I used Martha’s recipe as a base, but switched up my spices a bit. I only used a bit of nutmeg, but a truckload of cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice. One cup of pumpkin went in the mix. And some brown sugar lumps. Don’t you all want to eat this?
