Introduction to Psychology. About the Course This course highlights the most interesting experiments within the field of psychology, discussing the implications of those studies for our understanding of the human mind and human behavior. We will explore the brain and some of the cognitive abilities it supports like memory, learning, attention, perception and consciousness. We will examine human development - both in terms of growing up and growing old - and will discuss the manner in which the behavior of others affect our own thoughts and behavior. Finally we will discuss various forms of mental illness and the treatments that are used to help those who suffer from them.

The fact of the matter is that humans routinely do amazing things without appreciating how interesting they are. However, we are also routinely influenced by people and events without always being aware of those influences. Course Syllabus The course will be 8 weeks long in total, with topics varying as follows. Recommended Background Course Format. In our letter to Nick Gibb, we make the following three recommendations: 1. 2. 3. Nick Gibb has responded by inviting us to discuss the points raised at a meeting in October. Worldwide list of reading/literacy charities 2012.

Posted on | January 9, 2012 | 47 Comments Every year I update my list of book charities – charities which in some way are involved with books, reading and literacy. Today I bring you the most recent version of this list. I hope you’ll browse the list, choose a charity which appeals to you and share some goodwill at this time of year. For NEXT YEAR (!) I would like to make this well of information more user friendly and easier to search. For every comment on this post with advice/suggestions on how I should go about this (eg best key search terms to use, end format of database, how to create an online searchable database, what you’d like to see from a literacy charity database…) I’ll donate 50p (up to a total of £25) to the chosen literacy/reading charity (anywhere in the world, as long as donations are possible online) of whoever makes (to my mind) the most helpful comment about how I should develop this resource.

Now down to the nitty-gritty. Book charities in the UK.
