Always a Crafty Girl. I had a very nice Christmas day, but now that Christmas is over, I am sad the season will soon come to an end. But my sister Lou will be visiting this week through New Years, so Christmas and the holidays will last a bit longer here at our house. Christmas morning just before the gift unwrapping frenzy begins! I have one more holiday project to share before the season is over. I made a large temporary snow scene under a cloche that I had been wanting to put together for the holiday. Snow white bottle brush trees, two glass glittered deer in a snow dusted setting. I had fun making this scene, so I wanted to make some more. These two were the part of a shrimp cocktail set, the larger, the base for the ice and the smaller piece, holds the shrimp.
The little snowmen were made from Model Magic from Crayola. I made little houses from glitter card stock. I put each scene together by first hot gluing the snow people, houses, trees and embellishments to the glitter card stock circle. Two mini globes. 14 Homemade soap recipes : Bohemian Revolution. 101 Handmade Gift Ideas. Book Tree Tutorial. I hit the books this week - making a few projects that have been on my "to do" list, made out of books! The first project was a book tree. I was a little discouraged to start this project as I knew it involved paper folding. I have not been able to paper fold much of anything successfully.
Paper airplanes - no success with that one yet; Origami - I need a lot of assistance; Tea folding - ha, ha, ha, I won't comment on that one. Yeah...paper folding is not my forte, so I wasn't sure how this "try"al was going to go - but it turned out to be easy and fun. Let me show you how I did it. First of all, I read a tutorial on how to make a book tree. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Once you have finished the thirty pages - you have one tree half. I have pinned a book tree that was displayed on pretty candle holders. Thanks for stopping by! 101 Handmade Holiday Tutorials. Decorating for Christmas is always a blast! Spaghetti Sauce Jar Moroccan Lanterns. I don't know about you guys, but from where I'm sitting (Minnesota) the snow is getting really old. Like not even pretty any more. Sort of a cadaver/concrete color. I need some summer, some heat, some beer. Like an Anthony Bourdain special where it's late at night and everybody's outside and sweaty and eating some sort of rolled up meat chopped cilantro spicy pepper street food from a vendor's cart and drinking cold beer. That's what I need. So I got some spaghetti sauce jars. And added gold dimensional paint. Or you can make little dots, which looks sort like weird little nails. And then poured some glass paint into the bottom of the jar. Here's my color inspiration. And so now I can fantasize about summer nights, about putting these lanterns on my white metal table on the deck, Jon can barbecue, the kids can chase fireflies, aaaaahhhhh.

It seemed like a good idea – something delicate, almost ethereal. But it did not turn out as I expected... Have you tried lavender marshmallows? I remember seeing a photo on a magazine, months ago, but there was no recipe – it was an ad from a bakery or something. I decided to use a vanilla marshmallow recipe from DH mag #36 adding the dried lavender instead of vanilla extract. The marshmallow was actually quite good – delicious and fluffy. Lavender marshmallows adapted from Donna Hay magazine 4 tablespoons powdered gelatin 1 cup (240ml) warm water 660g caster sugar 1 1/3 cups glucose syrup 2/3 cup water, extra 3 tablespoons dried edible lavender* 200g confectioners’ sugar, sifted 35g (about 3 tablespoons) corn starch Place the gelatin and warm water in the bowl of an electric mixer, stir well to combine and set aside.
Makes 25 - I halved the recipe above, used a 20cm (8in) square pan and got 36 smaller marshmallows. Easy Crafts for Kids -- Quick Arts and Craft Ideas -- Kids' Crafts. A - Z of Folded Cards. I've decided to put together a list of different card folding techniques, and then slowly work through the list to produce instructions and examples on how to go about making each card.
I've come up with a pretty good list of cards so far, but I need your help in finishing it off. If you can think of other types of folds that aren't mentioned below, please let me know and I'll add them. I'm not looking for techniques, such as embossing or stamping, but actual folds or types of cards. Let's see what we can put together! The idea was to pass the kits around so that everyone made a card from each person at the table, resulting in a nice little stash by the end of the day. I don’t know about you but my dies and not just the spellbinders ones end up rattling around in a draw and I have to rummage through them to find the one I want, I have some of the smaller ones in an album but the larger ones and the border dies left me with a storage problem. I was contacted by a company which asked if there product was something that I’d like to take a look at, so i popped over to check them out and soon realised that they could have the answer to the die storage problem.
So I was thrilled when I realised that it worked. I know it looks like a black A4 a piece of black card but it is in fact an A4 sheet magnet, as you can see you can fit loads on it and better still it has enough pull power to keep them in one place, I even stood the sheet up to make sure they wouldn’t fall of, I then give them the shake test and they still held fast, the reverse side of mine is red but they come in a few different colours so they could be colour co-ordinated to the dies.
