ASO (App Store Optimization) Is The New SEO, And Here’s A Tool To Do It

If you answered “building a mobile app,” you’re wrong. It’s getting your app found. With over 600,000+ iOS applications, and now some 450,000 on Android, the real challenge for developers is having their app surfaced higher than hundreds of other competitors in the app store search results. Doing this correctly involves ASO, or app store optimization. It’s basically SEO repurposed for mobile, and because we’re still in the early days of the mobile ecosystem, it’s simpler to optimize apps than webpages. But developers are often lacking knowledge, and especially tools, to help them out on this front. Don’t let the utility’s wordy, boring title fool you – this is a killer product for mobile developers. To use the tool, developers enter their app’s URL, and those from their competitors.

Unfortunately, there is a drawback here. If you’re interested in testing out this new utility, a 30 day free trial is available. P.S.

Report: Android fragmentation specs

While significant differences in Android manufacturing partners, device form factors and OS builds do exist, Localytics states that 73 percent of all apps leveraging its analytics solution run a variant of Android 2.3, a.k.a. Gingerbread. Another 23 percent of user sessions run some flavor of Android 2.2/Froyo, meaning that developers targeting both OS builds can achieve 96 percent compatibility across the Android ecosystem. Forty-one percent of Android app sessions in the Localytics study originated on devices with 4.3-inch screens, followed by 4-inch screens at 22 percent, 3.2-inch models at 11 percent and 3.7-inch smartphones at 9 percent. The iTC Mobile app also provide the same graphs/information on the go. However, iTunes Connect falls short because daily statistics are only available for 14 days, and weekly statistics doesn’t stretch further than 13 weeks. Apple has a ton of apps (400.000+) on the App Store and downloads has already passed the one billion mark, I guess they just find it too expensive to store (or at least provide access) to that amount of data. But why o why can’t they just provide an API where we could easily download and store the statistics ourselves then? My guess is that they have an API for the iTC Mobile app that does this already! AppDailySales to the rescue! Loading statistics into MySQL 1. Is a mobile app more successful if it maximizes its user base or aims for a smaller, more dedicated fan base?

6 steps to making a more effective mobile app

As a developer, will you see a greater ROI charging upfront for your app, knowing that this will limit the number of potential app users? Or should you make your app free and offer in-app purchases, knowing that many users will never purchase any items in your app? Or is it best to offer an app for free and then begin charging later to gain greater exposure, or will this deter potential customers who may be reluctant to pay for an app that was once free? In short, what makes an app a success? The answer to that question, unfortunately, is not easy.
