Kansas photographer David Lane spent four months photographing the Milky Way over Yellowstone Park, and the result is a stunning night-time rainbow. Night photography always requires some technical know-how. One significant change that Lane made was adjusting airglow saturation. The night sky is never completely dark due to the faint emission of light by a planetary atmosphere; Lane increased its saturation by 10%.
