It was used as the old Cottonwood Lakes post office at the turn of the century, and then moved (by horse train) to its current location around 1920. The addition was built on site, as was the quartz fireplace. The aging owner, Alma Cowgill, hand-built the fireplace after being unimpressed with the mason’s initial attempts. Though smaller than Hortense, most people find that Cottonwood has a magical charm that you can’t quite put your finger on.
