How to Make Apple Roses – the Dainty, Delectable, Drool-Inducing Dessert. Apple desserts have always been a great love of mine. Apple pie, apple tart, apple strudel, apple crumble, apple Danish… You name it, I’ll eat it (as long as it doesn’t have raisins in it!). So of course, as I was searching for new dessert recipes, the name “Apple Roses” practically jumped out onto my face from the computer screen. I’m so excited about these little apple bundles – not only will they taste delicious, but they’re really simple to make (yet look like you made a big effort) and they just look so gorgeous and elegant. Remember, we eat with our eyes first!

Maybe a handful of macaroni? Or…would you be a fancy, high-class vanilla bean? Be honest. I like to think I would be some sort of superfood. Like acaí, cacao nibs, or goji berries. They’re, like, the superheroes of food, aren’t they? Before the holidays, I had big plans for my first recipe of the new year. I wanted to be a rebel, turn my back on diet-land and give you guys a gigantic chocolate cake…piled with chocolate frosting on top. I had too many cookies. I need a break. A sweets break. But I am interested in a vanilla speckled granola with slivered almonds, sweetened by agave and a little bit of brown sugar. And then baked until the perfect hue of golden brown.

I love them for their antioxidents. Accompanied with some coconut milk? Vanilla Almond Goji Berry Granola Print this recipe! 1. 2. 3. 4. Have you ever tasted a bowl of oatmeal so lightly and perfectly salted that it caused you to reflectively appreciate how a little dash of salt can actually improve flavor? Being inclined to leave out salt altogether from recipes more often than not, a “just right” hint of salt makes an impact on me. In any case, it was definitely one of my first impressions when sampling Laura’s Gourmet Vanilla Almond Granola, alongside the beautiful balance of sweetness that conveyed a sort of sophistication (in granola terms) without being over-powering.

In fact, all characteristics of Laura’s Gourmet Granola, which include 4 uniquely delicious varieties, Vanilla Almond, Honey Roasted Peanut, Applelicious Crunch, and Pumpkin Pecan, equally lend balance to this all natural, budding brand. There are few quintessentially drool inspiring scenes to rival the humble pancake stack. Topped with cream, honey/mapel syrup flowing down the sides like a slow moving volcano of sweetness. It is the kind of breakfast (or dessert) that makes you feel glad you put in the effort to cook it, rather than lying in bed those few extra hours, waiting for the throbbing headache of the night before to subside.

My earliest memories of pancakes (or to be specific pikelets) was Mum cooking up big batches of them on a Saturday morning, using the top of our Kent wood fire back in NZ. It would get so hot that you could literally cook on top of it, so on would go a pan and batch after batch of pikelets would be poured, flipped, and devoured just as fast as Mum could make them. So these pancakes follow in my great tradition of never eating a proper breakfast except for the weekend. The recipe is a little tarted up from Mum’s original, but stays true enough to the simple home cooking philosophy.
