SciTech Daily Review - science, news, technology, future developments, innovations, opinions, review

The world’s largest telescope will be the Square Kilometer Array, and when it starts peering into radio waves emanating from the skies, it will generate 1,000,000 terabytes of data each day. All of this data needs to be processed, and IBM is building a supercomputer to handle it. 1,000,000 terabytes, or one exabyte, is a [...] http://scitechdaily.com/

Scirus - for scientific information

is the most comprehensive scientific research tool on the web. With over 440 million scientific items indexed at last count, it allows researchers to search for not only journal content but also scientists' homepages, courseware, pre-print server material, patents and institutional repository and website information. http://www.scirus.com/
Do magnetic nerves help pigeons navigate? Maybe they're not even present! How do homing pigeons find their way on their amazing migrations? For a decade, scientists thought iron-bearing nerve cells in the beak can detect Earth's magnetic field. But those iron granules are in immune cells. http://whyfiles.org/

125th Anniversary Issue: Science Online Special Feature

http://www.sciencemag.org/site/feature/misc/webfeat/125th/ I n a special collection of articles published beginning 1 July 2005, Science Magazine and its online companion sites celebrate the journal's 125th anniversary with a look forward -- at the most compelling puzzles and questions facing scientists today. A special, free news feature in Science explores 125 big questions that face scientific inquiry over the next quarter-century; accompanying the feature are several online extras including a reader's forum on the big questions. The Signal Transduction Knowledge Environment highlights some classic Science papers that have influenced the study of cell signaling. The Science of Aging Knowledge Environment looks at several important questions confronting researchers on aging.

Relativity: Einstein's theory of relativity in animations and film clips. Einstein Light

Einstein's theory of special relativity includes electricity and magnetism in a simple, logical extension of the relativity of Galileo and Newton. Its conclusions, including time dilation, length contraction, and E=mc 2 have changed profoundly our ideas of time and space, matter and energy. http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/einsteinlight/

How Time Works"

http://science.howstuffworks.com/science-vs-myth/everyday-myths/time.htm Making you an expert on everything. Time is something that most of us take for granted. Have you ever thought about why, for example, there are 12 months in a year? Why are there 30 days in September? Why are there time zones and what's with daylight-saving time?
We’ve all stood outside at night and admired the stars, wondering how they were created and whether there might be life somewhere among them.

Einstein | American Museum of Natural History

Organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York; The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ; and the Skirball Cultural Center , Los Angeles. Einstein is made possible through the generous support of Jack and Susan Rudin and the Skirball Foundation, and of the Corporate Tour Sponsor, TIAA-CREF .
He received patent number 4,177,779 Dec. 11, 1979, which described "A fuel economy system for an internal combustion engine which, when installed in a motor vehicle, obviates the need for a conventional carburetor, fuel pump and gasoline tank. The system operates by using the engine vacuum to draw fuel vapors from a vapor tank through a vapor conduit to a vapor equalizer which is positioned directly over the intake manifold of the engine." In 1981, Ogle died at the young age of 26.
