In Ireland, official statistics are those produced by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) , along with government departments, agencies and other state bodies. Most of these are available on the web through a variety of websites and formats. The StatCentral portal provides standard documentation on recurring official statistics and links to where they can be found. Data.gov.au provides an easy way to find, access and reuse public datasets from the Australian Government and state and territory governments. Easy access to other government data catalogues offering open data is provided through our Catalogues page. We encourage all users to improve government information by using it to develop tools and applications which benefit all Australians. Submitting links to these new applications will enable their promotion through data.gov.au in future enhancements to the site. Functionality and available data will continue to improve with user feedback.

L’Open Data è il tema del momento: anche in Italia sono sempre più coloro che auspicano la “liberazione” dei dati pubblici in modo da accrescere l’efficienza e la trasparenza della PA, migliorare la qualità della vita dei cittadini e fornire alle imprese nuove opportunità di business. Anche le Amministrazioni, sia pur timidamente, iniziano a pensare di adottare politiche di Open Data; molto spesso tali azioni sono frenate dai timori e dalle incertezze legate alle tante dimensioni del fenomeno: giuridica, tecnica, organizzativa. Proprio per superare tali difficoltà e consentire al maggior numero possibile di Enti di fare realmente Open Data, l’ Associazione Italiana per l’Open Government ha organizzato un evento dedicato all’Open Data che si terrà nell’ambito di ForumPA 2011 , la più importante manifestazione dedicata all’Amministrazione italiana.

20 September 2011 : With 46 countries gathering in New York today to launch the Open Government Partnership, Access Info Europe warned that the promises being made must be carefully monitored to prevent participating governments from using the process to give a false impression of their transparency credentials. “This initiative has the potential to promote higher standards of openness, in particular in the area of proactive publication of information, but care must be taken to ensure that it does not become a window-dressing exercise,” said Helen Darbishire, Executive Director of Access Info Europe. The danger of “transparency hypocrisy” is very real: at the same time as participating as a leading member of the OGP, the UK government is engaged in litigation against Access Info Europe to block access to documents about reform of the EU’s own access to documents rules.
