CyanogenMod | Android Community Rom based on FroYo. GPS Fix. GPS Fix. We’ve received various reports that the GPS on the Samsung Vibrant is broken out of the box. Locking on to a GPS signal can take can take a while, if it does at all, and the location can be rather inaccurate at that. The folks at XDA-Developers have figured out a quick fix that won’t require doing any serious modifications to your phone’s software. Samsung says they are working on an update proper to fix the GPS issues with the phone, but for now just follow these instructions to get yours acting the way it should. And that should do it. This fix is also confirmed to work on the Samsung Captivate, but attempting to replicate this on the international Galaxy S I had no luck. One of my favorite, next to switching ROMs, is tethering. It has come in handy so many times on road trips. If you’re like a lot of people, (and myself for a long time) you are scared to death to make a mistake and ruin your phone trying to root. Not a problem with Samsung Kies. It’s already built in to the device, just not readily known about. Go HERE to download and install the software for your PC.On your phone go to Menu > Settings > Applications > USB settings > Samsung Kies.Plug your phone into the PC and you will get a screen that shows a USB plug.Open the Kies application.It should start to connect your device like in the video below.Once connected you may need to install the drivers if prompted.For tethering simply select tether.In the APN field type: epc.tmobile.comIn the phone number field type: *99#Select OK, then click the connect button, wait for it to confirm internet connection and you are all set.
