The House with Underground Caverns. Dec 27, 2012 Located in Civita di Bagnoregio, Italy, Domus Civita was purchased in 2011 by architect and Studio F owner Patrizio Fradiani.

The House with Underground Caverns

The house’s main structure was part of a larger building that was divided up in the 20th century but was originally built in the 14th century. While the original stone fireplace, wooden beams and terracotta floors are breathtaking, it’s the underground caverns that are most captivating. Carved into the soft volcanic tufa stone, a series of tunnels and caves dating from the middle ages and Roman and Estrucan times can be accessed from the ground floor. Fradiani cleaned and restored the caves and grottos, converting the spaces into a meditation room, art gallery, wine cellar and pool with hot tub. Nov 22, 2012 When Osaka’s baseball stadium closed its doors, it opened the door to a prime redevelopment opportunity in a new commercial district adjacent to Namba Train Station, the first stop from Kansai Airport.

The 8 Level Rooftop Park in Osaka, Japan

Given the location, owner Nankai Electric Railway asked Jon Jerde to create a gateway that would redefine Osaka’s identity. Jerde conceived Namba Parks as a large park, a natural intervention in Osaka’s dense and harsh urban condition. Alongside a 30-story tower, the project features a lifestyle commercial center (with 120 tenants) crowned with a rooftop park that crosses multiple blocks while gradually ascending eight levels. In addition to providing a highly visible green component in a city where nature is sparse, the sloping park connects to the street, welcoming passers-by to enjoy its groves of trees, clusters of rocks, cliffs, lawn, streams, waterfalls, ponds and outdoor terraces.
