How to transfer a photo to fabric. Did you know you can transfer photos to fabric without using iron-on sheets? I love this technique. It's simple to execute and the end results are really pretty. It's another method for hand printing! I made some fabrics the other day and used them to add pockets to one of my wool skirts. Supplies Needed: Fabric (I used white quilting cotton), Gel Medium (I used this kind from Liquidex), Paint Brush and the image you want to transfer.

How to transfer a photo to fabric: 1. Note: Don't be alarmed if your transfer isn't completely perfect. Well there you go! Fleece Flower Petal Pillow. So, to celebrate the start of Spring, I decided to make some pretty, bright and colorful Spring flower pillows using some of that leftover fleece!! They took a little while, but were really quite easy to make and the girls LOVED them. I made these first two as a surprise for them, but I think I might enlist their help and make a bunch more. What you need Fleece (1/2 yard in the color of your flower, plus some coordinating scraps for the center and leaves). You could also use felt, but I think fleece is softer! Hot glue, Polyfil stuffing Instructions I did sew around the edges of our pillows and on the leaves, but the majority of the project was just done with hot glue (and I’m sure you could even hot glue the edges of your pillow together to make this a completely no-sew project!)

1. 2. 3. 4. Everything is sewn. The edges are “pinked” and the leaves are attached. 5. I actually cut out and used a lot more, probably 50-60 or so. 6. A line of hot glue. Attaching the outer row of petals. 7. 8. 9. Make It and Love It: Interchangeable Flip-Flops. Are you ready for the sun? Ready to paint those toe nails and slip into some sandals? I am too. And I decided to greet spring (that will be here soon) with some flip-flops, with interchangeable straps.

So I can start the day with some color and print….. Then change my mind. And take off the strap….. ……..and switch to a solid ruffle. Then choose some warm colors and sweet flowers the next day…… And then animal print with a simple bow the following day. (I saw something similar in a shop and knew I needed to figure out a way to make my own…) But all you need is one pair of flip flops (or two in my case), some velcro, and any sort of colored ribbon and accessory that puts you in the mood for spring.

How to make your own?? Find yourself any pair of flip-flops. Start by cutting two pieces of the scratchy side of the velcro and gluing them to the flip flop. I used a strong epoxy glue that I found at Wal-Mart. Next, cut two pieces of ribbon and sew them together at one end at an angle. Now make more. Crafty goodness / Somebody make me one of these aprons stat! Boho Maxi Dress.

This dress is an incredibly easy make. By now you may have realized that I'm all about the simple projects. I'm far from being a master seamstress, I just work with what I know and try to learn as I go. I've never actually owned a maxi dress before, but now I might be hooked. They're so comfy and they have the added benefit of hiding my neglected, less-than-hairless legs. Want to make one too?? Materials: 1 4/5 yd Extra Stretchy Jersey Knit (60"wide) (You want a lightweight knit. 1/3 yd Trim Fabric Dye I know that there are many of you out there who have a fear of sewing with knit. A couple of things to keep in mind when sewing with knit... Let the material go at it's own pace when feeding through the machineUse a zig zag stitch or a stretch stitch.

Tutorial: Fold your panel of fabric in half along the 60" side. Because it was so huge, it was difficult to get a decent pic of this step...so I drew up this nice little chart instead. Sew everywhere you see the white dashed line. Dye: You'll need: Anthropologie inspired knotted bedding part 1 (making the knotted squares) Y’all have been too funny about this bedding- thanks for all of your emails and comments and kind words. It sounds like you’re all ready to make your own as well- want to get started on that? I should issue a warning up front that this endeavor is definitely time consuming… not difficult, per se, but time consuming for sure. That being said, today’s tutorial is for the how to make the pile of knotted squares that will make up your ‘quilt.’

To make the squares for the knotted ‘quilt,’ you’ll need: -18″x18″ squares of jersey (I used 56 of these for my king sized quilt)… I got the jersey from two flat king sized sheets and a pile of white t-shirts. *A tip before you start. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. This is what I did- I pulled the pooch of fabric to a point, Then, I poked down through the top center until the point was back down through the pulled-taut circle of thread. Then I twisted the whole poked-down mess until it looked knot-like. 6. Here’s part 2– assembling your ‘quilt.’ Clear Heart Full Eyes Can't Lose. I took some major inspiration from a certain Luella dress and all things Valentine-y to come up with this top.

It’s quite similar to those heart cut-out dresses that have been seen all over, but this is way easier to make than a dress! And a bit more wearable, too, seeing as how it’s just a shirt, and you can pair it and wear it with just about anything. Oh, and there are pretty lace frills involved, too! What’s not to love? Stuff you’re gonna need (you can get most of this stuff at JoAnn or Michaels or your local craft-supply store): a well-fitting button-up shirt chalk lace trim (about half a yard or less should cover it) a hook-and-eye fastener sewing pins fray checkscissors measuring tape (I actually ended up not using this—but it’s always nice to have on hand) a small heart-shaped item to use as a pattern (this would be a good way to get some use out of an empty Valentine’s chocolate box) a sewing machine or just a needle and thread, whichever is your preferred sewing method 1. 2.

Zombie Invasion Tee - Tried and True. Thought I would put last year’s stencil to good use and made my son a Zombie Invasion Tee! Want to make one too? Zombie Invasion TeeMaterials: - stencil - t-shirt - freezer paper - scissors or x-acto knife - iron - fabric spray paint Instructions: 1. Cut out two 8.5 x 11 pieces of freezer paper and carefully print out zombie image on the paper side (NOT wax side). As you can see with my papers, this might be trickier than it sounds. 2. 3. 4. 5. Hints: - Do not apply too much spray paint. How to make custom rug using a scrap of vinyl flooring and fabric. I have a very easy and inexpensive trash to treasure transformation for you today.

I found a scrap of vinyl flooring from one of the bathrooms in my house that was discolored. I was about to toss it in the trash when I thought of a way to salvage it. I don’t know about you but when ever I am looking for small area mats or rugs for my kitchen, foyer, or bath I can never find one in the color or style that I envision and end up with nothing or something that I really don’t like. I buy it because I need the function of the rug to wipe feet or protect the floor. This project is going to end that – I am going to use fabric to make a custom rug so my color and pattern options are endless and I will get exactly what I want in color, style and size.

Before After What You Need: This is the fabric I used. 1. Optional step. 2. 3. 4. Don’t proceed to the next step until you have a t least two coats of poly on your fabric. Make sure you are covering every section and the edges. 5. 6. 7. 8. Crafts & Sutch: No Sew Bleached Sand Dollar Pillow. Hello, Sweet Friends! I have missed you! I'm sorry I've been MIA, but I have to admit I had hit a crafting brick wall until Delia invited me to join her Color My Summer series that she is hosting along with Kojo Designs.

I chose the color BLUE because it screams SUMMER to me...blue skies, cool pools, and crashing waves just make me want to pop on my sunglasses and soak up some summer sun. I wanted to introduce a little bit of a beachy feel into my home for the summer, so I customized some fabric to create this sand dollar pillow in Caribbean blue! You will need: a pillow form or fiberfill, Heat n Bond, fabric scissors, disappearing ink pen, iron, fabric (I used broadcloth), a print out of your desired design, and a Clorox Bleach pen. Start by cutting two pieces of fabric approximately 2" larger than your pillow form. Cut out the image and trace around it using the disappearing ink pen. Now trace around the lines using the Clorox Bleach pen.

Allow the bleach to work it's magic. Make Your Own No-Sew Eco-Friendly T-Shirt Tissues : Fun In The Making. Tissues made from old t-shirts work really well and they are soft on the nose. Kids will like the fun colorful fabrics and you will like the part about saving money and resources. Make Your Own T-Shirt Tissues I set aside some children’s t-shirts that were too worn or too stained to pass on.

How to: Gather some old t-shirts. Thin, uber soft t-shirts are best. Alternatively, you can cut square pieces. Keep these eco-friendly tissues on bedside tables for use on little noses. Hankie Hamper: find something around the house or at the thrift store to be your hankie hamper. Recycle Worn-Out Shirts Into Handkerchiefs When choosing old shirts to be made into hankies; the softer the better. How to: Cut strips 7 inches wide (or your preference) with a pair of pinking shears.

To take with you, fold in half then fold in thirds: it fits nicely in your purse or pocket. Download the pattern: Spring Felt Flower | I posted these cute pictures last week, and I promised I would share the tutorial. These flowers are so fun for spring! And they sure look cute on Miss Emmalyn! Am I the only one who makes a headband for every. single . outfit!?

Lol The first flower is pretty simple… I just hope I can explain it right. You’ll need (5) 1 1/2 in circles (sorry typo in the pic). Add a little hot glue to the center and fold it like a taco. You’ll glue one edge down, but not the other. Make sense? Then your going to cut a 1/2 in circle for the middle. Next you’ll need to make your loopy flower. First you’ll want to pin it in half. Then you’ll sew the pieces together. Then you’ll cut little snips all the way down. Now roll your flower up like a cinnamon roll, gluing along the way.

Now your going to glue both flowers to a piece of felt. Attach to a cute headband and you got your self a pretty cute flower. Linked to Tidy Mom Happy Spring!! How To Make Pom Poms and Add Them to a Throw Blanket. Before I started moving my studioffice all around last week, I started making something to keep me warm as it is COLD!!! Outside and I like it warm. This past weekend it snowed, which made for a nice snow day on Saturday, but the throw blanket I keep in my living room to snuggle up with has not been available for about 2 months now. You will find out why below. I needed to finish up embellishing a new throw I bought at Marshall’s to keep me all comfy cozy. It is large, furry, fuchsia, soft and super cuddly – perfect for the winter months, plus it gives my room an added color pop. When I bought it, it had plain edges, but I knew I would be adding big pom poms to embellish it and make it my own.

This project all started when a certain new member of my household took over my warm and snuggly leopard throw. Sometimes I don’t even see her as she blends right in. From woman’s Day Magazine Jan 1968 How to Make a Pom Pom Throw Blanket How to Make a Pom Pom I used 4 different colors of yarn. 1. 2. Rock n Roll Bride & How to...Make Your Own Fabric Bouquet.
