A diverse collection of local residents and groups are getting a financial boost from the Lane County Cultural Coalition, which is distributing almost $30,000 in grants for projects that range from a powwow with Native American artists in the Oakridge School District to an arts and culture program for adults with developmental disabilities. The money comes from the Oregon Cultural Trust, which gets money primarily from donations from Oregonians — they receive a cultural tax credit — and proceeds from the sale of special cultural license plates. The local coalition decides where to put Lane County’s share of the money doled out by the trust each year, with the goal of “preserving and enhancing Lane County’s diverse arts, heritage, and humanities efforts.”

The latest round of grants went to support: The John G. Community Center for the Performing Arts: $1,500 for a historic exhibit that the WOW Hall will present in 2014: “The Woodmen of the World: Their History and Their Dance Hall.” DJ Mix Podcast - xxxy. ▶ Caves (Album Version) - Data Romance - Spotify. Desserts With Benefits. Quinoa cupcakes… probably not the most appetizing phrase you have ever heard, and certainly not something you hear everyday! But trust me, these cupcakes are 100% delicious. I mean, can you really go wrong with bananas, peanut butter and a little dose of healthy? See how moist that is? I wish I could magically hand you a cupcake through the screen you are looking at but technology hasn’t caught up to that yet (what a shame, more for me I guess…) These cupcakes are packed with banana flavor, reminiscent of banana bread just in a smaller package.

Kitchen La Bohème: VEGANIZE IT | Hummingbird Cupcakes with "Cream Cheese" Frosting. Hummingbird Cake, a delightful traditional southern dessert, gets a pure vegetarian makeover as easy to bake cupcakes. The eggs have been omitted, so these aren't your grandma's old-fashioned cake — although I'm sure she'll love them (and never miss those eggs).

The original Hummingbird Cake recipe was first published in Southern Living magazine in 1978 and has since become the magazine's most requested recipe — you can find it here. For my veganized version, I've also added shredded coconut a'la Martha Stewart's recipe for Hummingbird Cupcakes. A side note: This recipe makes a half-dozen jumbo cupcakes. Baking time will be less, and the recipe will yield one full dozen cupcakes if you are making regular-sized cupcakes. Baking time may also vary according to your specific oven. Ingredients: For the Cupcakes 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup crushed pineapple 1/2 cup pureed ripe banana 1/4 cup canola oil 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Vegan Month of Food | 2. Chocolate - Brownies with Walnuts. Raw Vegan Brownies (oil-free, sugar-free, gluten-free) Raw brownies… Why on earth have I not tried this out before?

A while back I got a request to do this, but I have not had the time nor the ingredients to make it before now. Let me just say that I regret not making this sooner. Holy moly, this tastes freaking amazing! I will definitely have to start making more raw desserts, because not only is it completely healthy but also super easy to make and usually all you need is a freezer and some simple ingredients. As most of you can tell by my other recipes, I am not exclusively a raw vegan but I do eat an unprocessed vegan diet with a lot of raw food in it. Though this is my first raw brownie recipe I have ever made or even tasted, I can tell that it was entirely successful.

This is in many ways the perfect dessert to serve to non-rawfooders seeing as it tastes remarkably a lot like the sweet chocolatey desserts they are used to. 2014 Update: Sunflower Mac. February 7, 2012 Sunflower Mac by IsaChandra Serves 4Time: 30 minutes (not including sunflower seed soaking time) The most important people in my life are my recipe testers.

Luckily, my sister and mom are included in their numbers, so all of my bases are covered. Recipe testers are why my cookbooks work. But not only do testers test my recipes, they also give me inspiration. And over the years, I’ve learned many of their quirks, likes, loves and allergies. I know how she feels about raw onions and cilantro (not too good), and so I often come up with recipes keeping that in mind. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. But all those doubt washed away as I poured the perfectly creamy sauce over the little macaronis in a positively cheddary orange waterfall. I love to serve my mac with some steamed kale, so here was my plate. The mac is under there somewhere! 8 oz macaroni pasta (I used whole wheat, use brown rice pasta to make it gluten-free) Place sunflower seeds in a bowl and submerge in water. Trail Mix Peanut Butter Cookies.

Trail Mix Peanut Butter Cookies I love trail mix so much. It’s dangerous for me to even keep it around. One handful turns into five, which very quickly turns into the whole bag. You too? After recently baking caramel corn into Caramel Corn Chocolate Chip Cookies, I decided to bake in trail mix. I loaded up favorite Peanut Butter Cookie recipe with my favorite trail mix add-ins. The result is a chewy, dense, hearty cookie that’s loaded to the max with texture. Interestingly, this cookie dough base contains NO flour, NO butter, and I didn’t add any white sugar. I doctored up the rich peanut butter dough with 1/3 cup each of: oats, raisins, chocolate chips, and peanut butter-filled M&Ms. If you have a bag of actual trail mix, adding 1 generous cup of that will save you from piecing together one-third cup of this and that.

Work in your favorite trail mix goodies such as crumbled pretzels, dried fruit like craisins or apricots; butterscotch or white chocolate chips rather than semi-sweet. Print. By: David Gumpert TheCompletePatient.com For years, the public health, medical, regulator, and conventional dairy communities have marched in lockstep against raw milk.

Collaborating with these forces of government and business have been the farmer communities, via their trade groups, the American Farm Bureau and the National Farmers Union. But then something happened earlier this month, and the National Farmers Union, an organization that has long been representative of family farms, and is more than 100 years old, decided at long last that there was something to the raw milk thing, as in: Maybe there really is a sustainable business model for smaller dairies. Maybe the raw dairy market isn’t the mortal danger it’s been portrayed. So as part of its new policy plank adopted at its recent national convention, it encouraged raw milk as a “viable market niche for dairies.” The organization also advocated “policies, practices and standards for responsible raw milk production…” More Info. Every time I think of pancakes, I smile. Not because they are totally freaking awesome moist and taste incredibly delicious, but because I remember how I used to eat them as a child.

I would drown my pancakes in that fake Aunt Jemima stuff to the point where there was more syrup on my plate than pancakes. And I never understood why people used plates either, I needed a bowl to hold all that syrup! Kind of like how I wonder why restaurants serve rice on plates with forks rather than bowls with spoons… it just makes more sense to use a bowl. So last week when someone requested me to make pancakes, I smiled. Not because a silly image popped into my head of me holding a bottle of syrup directly over my pancakes, but because I realized how far I had come in my healthy eating journey. When I was five, I ate the all purpose flour, butter and corn syrup, whereas today, we will be indulging in healthy buckwheat flour, no added oils and pure maple syrup!

I tell you who would be even more unethical than me if they went on TV to diagnose someone from afar as a psychopath: any forensic psychiatrist or psychologist or anyone who works in that field as an expert.
