Früher war die Welt der Zensoren noch einfach. Missliebige Publikationen wurden kurzerhand für illegal erklärt, beschlagnahmt und eingestampft. Bestenfalls gab es die inkriminierten Informationen noch als verwaschene Kopien in verrauchten Hinterzimmern oder als Raubdruck an schattig-verrufenen Büchertischen. Gerichtsentscheidungen führen auch in neuerer Zeit zu Schwärzungen bei Büchern, aber gleichzeitig oft zu vermehrtem Interesse am verbotenen Inhalt.
