The Podcast Headset Microphone Shoot-Out: Quick, Easy Podcasting Quality. When it comes to starting out in Podcasting, I'm a big fan of the ‘start small' approach.
Too many people dive in headfirst, spending a whole lot of money on digital recorders, XLR mics and mixers, creating a home studio of their own to boost their podcasting efforts. While this can result in really excellent audio quality, it also introduces a whole load of complexity. And, to me, complexity gets in the way of ‘just doing it' as our tick based sporting friends would say.
To a beginner it puts up barriers, lengthens the recording process and makes it pretty likely you'll never get into the swing of releasing regular content. To this end, I think one of the best ways into Podcasting is to get yourself a decent quality headset microphone. Best of all, because they're always connected, always easy, and you can record new episodes in no time, with no barriers. The Showdown: 7 of the Top Headset Microphones for Podcasting. The Podcaster's High Quality Microphone Shootout. Today we are doing a test to see if the hype is true about high quality podcast microphones: is there really a mic out there that can make your voice sound amazing, if so, which one is it and is it worth the cost.
This test is for pro podcasters who care about both sounding great and not needing to take out a loan to buy the necessary gear. I created a video for the test which you can watch here: Table of Contents: Test Criteria A note about the test author: I've been working with audio in professional and hobby environments for about 15 years. So in this test I focus on what I think is most important for real podcasters. So here's the criteria I'll judge these microphones on: Happy English Podcast Learn English. My clients often ask me how they can improve their listening skills.
The first thing I ask them is what they enjoy doing. Do they like watching films, watching TV Series, listening to music, listening to the radio and so on? All those activities will give them the practice they need to improve their listening skills. The challenge, however, with most of my clients and most of us truth be told, is that time is short and there are only so many hours in a day that we can accomplish everything we set out to do. Whilst it would be great to watch a film everyday or catch up with the latest episode on your favourite TV series, the reality is that this precious time is often unavailable to us as work and family take over.
That’s why podcasts are such an ingenious way of giving time-poor learners the opportunity to practise their English “on the go”. All Ears English Podcast. BBC World Service - The English We Speak.
