There are certain songs that every guitar player should try to learn. Either they are commonly requested or they have cool guitar parts that will expand your playing skills. I am going to list songs in several styles of music and explain why I think they should be add to your “play list.” While most are electric guitar songs, there are some acoustic songs also. Obviously, this type of list won’t ever be comprehensive, and no doubt, many will disagree with my choices — and find many ommissions.
James Hutchinson recently contacted me to tell me about his business customising guitars, when I saw what he has been creating in his workshop I had to share it. James is like a mad scientist not content with easy custom guitar projects he really takes his work to the extreme, take the Molten Lava Guitar for example: The original concept was a simple flat cracked surface with light shining through. I decided this would be too much akin to the custom painted Charvels of the late 80′s. Consequently I sought a way of having the lava flow over the guitar in three dimensions. After much painstaking research and development I have succeeded in my aim- to produce a rock guitar so hot its molten!
