Pattern Get yourself a good corset pattern. I traced mine off a late Victorian corset pattern when I was studying costume design. Lucky me, I know, but you can try the pattern companies, Simplicity has some historical costume patterns worth looking at, and if you want a serious corset try Laughing Moon or Corset Making Supplies.
