For many Americans and Brits, Jean Giraud was the European comics creator whose work we knew. Translated and republished in English, his science fiction work under the name of Moebius especially influenced the entire industry. And then he went and did the same thing to Japan as well. To influence three separate comics industries so heavily, and still working into his seventies, this is a dark day but also an opportunity to remember the Moebius we loved, who died earlier today, aged 73, from a long illness.

Miguel Endara from Miami, Florida, spent almost a year creating this 11in by 17in portrait of his father - meticulously positioning each tiny dot by hand. The image shows the artists father, and took more than 11 months to complete Mr Endara said: 'I'm a great admirer of stippling, so I decided to create this portrait of my father using this technique to experience this incredible art form for myself.

This December, in a surprisingly simple yet ridiculously amazing installation for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Ar , artist Yayoi Kusama constructed a large domestic environment, painting every wall, chair, table, piano, and household decoration a brilliant white, effectively serving as a giant white canvas. Over the course of two weeks, the museum’s smallest visitors were given thousands upon thousands of colored dot stickers and were invited to collaborate in the transformation of the space, turning the house into a vibrantly mottled explosion of color. How great is this? Given the opportunity my son could probably cover the entire piano alone in about fifteen minutes.
