The development of courses is taking place within the context of a University-wide review of its academic portfolio and the construction of MediaCityUK, within which the University has an extensive learning, teaching and research space. The University is planning an embedded curriculum approach to the development of digital literacies. This approach was chosen over an earlier proposal to develop a single online skills module for reasons including: Staff reluctance to find space within their programmes for a new 20 credit skills module A recognition of the existing development of digital literacies within some courses e.g. dealing with online information in research methods courses and electronic presentation skills in management development.
