Based in Salt Lake City, the talented illustrator creates incredible, nature-inspired stippling art composed of millions of tiny hand-drawn dots. From tree-studded forests to crashing ocean waves, Baker completes each piece using black ink pens, dot by dot. With an impressive portfolio, Baker’s work highlights his amazing skill and dedication. Each monochrome drawing features an amazing amount of detail, complete with perfect tones of shadow and light.

He admits, “It’s crazy to look back at old art and see how much your technique and skills have improved.” While smaller pieces are often framed within geometric shapes, larger pieces sprawl across large sheets of paper. Inspired by double exposure photography, he uses meticulous patterns of tiny dots to form celestial skies, trees, and mountains within the silhouettes of wild creatures. The dot drawing technique called stippling demands patience and precision, and each piece takes around four hours to complete. The final results are as spellbinding as storybook scenes, at once earthly and otherworldly. Bianchini is a self-proclaimed naturalist and animal rights advocate, and he says that he hopes to “inspire people who live in big cities to turn their eyes back to nature.” Josefine Svärd. Roy Lichtenstein and His Legacy, 5 Contemporary Artists Working in the Dot Idiom

Pop art icon Roy Lichtenstein was a leading figure of the ’60’s movement, portraying an “anti-sensibility that pervades society and a kind of gross oversimplification.” Billboards, neon signs, and advertising were his inspiration, parodied in his paintings that joined flat color fields with comic book-inspired “Ben-Day dots,” giving his artworks a commercial feel. New York City gallery Mitchell-Innes & Nash is hosting an exhibition celebrating the artist through December 19. “Roy Lichtenstein: The Popular Image traces the development of the artist’s interest in adopting both contemporary culture and art history as well as their artistic adaptation,” writes the Madison Avenue gallery. Lichtenstein’s influence is ever present, as seen in these contemporary artworks by dot lovers around the world.
