Here's the call for submissions: Speculative narrative and the potential of imagination are important factors in creative production. It is considered that a multitude of small stories are the “quintessential form of imaginative invention” ( source ). Speculation through narrative offers an apparatus through which we may investigate the concept of ‘reality’. Immersed within our current understandings, speculation is influenced by our contemporary condition.

Vietnamese designers Vo Trong Nghia combined natural materials like bamboo with contemporary design practices to create the wNw Bar in Thu Dau Mot Town, Binh Duong, Vietnam. Besides being culturally relevant, the bamboo structure also employs environmental functions, by drawing cool air from the surrounding water up through a hole in the roof of the structure.

Aber dieses Ding hier aehnelt dem Vogelnest des echten Vogels zumindest in seinem Aussehen.Eine scheinbar irregulaere Huellstruktur aus Holzstaemmen, umgibt eine kleine kreisrunde Halle.

Not even semi-rendered first draft pictures of a contemporary art gallery that we, my partner & I, are designing for a school project right now. We’re still working on the details, but the rough structure is up: the inside will be coated by a (double-?) membrane shell, got a couple of ideas for material. There will be a first floor - the gallery - and a second floor, the gallery’s cafe, as shown in the second picture. Forget about Milan’s Cathedral for a moment: this university is so monumental, so impressive and so geometrically beautiful - the building alone is worth a weekend trip to Milan. Promise!

The projects range from small scale designs to strategic master plan for a New Seven Wonders of the World. A new international idea competition is announced by reSITE Festival, ARCHIP (Architectural Institute in Prague) and Skanska, to find new ideas for the River Vltava, in Prague, Czech Republic. Skanska Bridging Prague Design Competition is a challenge for interdisciplinary collaboration on new conceptions to connect the river with the historical capital city.
