If you are using your repurposed envelopes for gift giving or hand-delivered mail a little embellishment can go a long way. While usually I have an aversion for all things needle and thread, this couldn't be easier, faster, or more simple - and adds a great touch to envelopes, bags, or other packages. You'll need: Magazine pages, paper bags, old maps or other paper waste Needle Thread Tape, glue, or staples to secure your final ruffle/bow 1) Gather paper you wish to make ruffles from. 2) Cut paper into even strips - in this case about 1 inch each. 3) Thread your needle and tie off a knot at the end. 4) Sew evenly the length of the strip. 5) Once you've sewn the length of the strip of paper begin to gather the paper by pushing down, along the thread, toward the knotted end.

Since the new year has started I’ve been trying to think of ways to be more kind to my self. Especially when that nasty gremlins try to creep in and stump me. I remembered this origami star video on You Tube and had to get them involved in my plan. I thought it would be fun to make a whole bunch with kind words and “you are….” phrases inside. I made 60 of them, enough to last me the whole year if I open one a week, plus a few extra just in case.

Today I would like to share with you all our newest craft. This simple project uses scrapbook paper leaves to create a bright and cheery Spring ambiance for your home. First, drag out your unseemly healthy assortment of scrapbook paper scraps. Cut out a template of your leaf from the cardboard (you can also use chipboard or card-stock). Take your floral wire and cut strips anywhere from 5"-8" long. Lay down some newspaper next to your workspace. Now for the fun part! ...or make them funky. And you're done! For a package of 20" x 25" tissue paper, 8 sheets: Large flowers (Peonies): 16 per pack Small flowers (Carnations): 32 per pack Mini pompoms (Garland): 8 per pack Small pompoms: 2 per pack Medium pompoms: 1 per pack* Large pompoms: 1 per pack *There will be enough paper leftover from a medium pompom to make flowers or mini pompoms The flowers are easiest, so lets start there.
