Benjamin Adler. The Bodymetrics Pod was recently showcased in a Bloomingdale’s store in Los Angeles as apart of the store’s Women’s Denim Days event. The futuristic looking capsule uses eight Windows Kinect sensors to 360-degree scan your body before finding a pair of jeans that can fit and flatter your body type. The body-mapping only takes five seconds and requires the customer to stand upright with the arms and legs apart inside the pod.

Susan Goonatilake, CEO of Bodymetrics, explains that: Body-mapping is in its infancy. We’re just starting to explore what’s possible in retail stores and at home. Stores are increasingly looking to provide experiences that entice shoppers into their stores, and then allow a seamless journey from stores to online. Bodymetrics is also planning a home-version of the pod so online shoppers can find perfectly fitted clothing items without having to go into the store to try them on. Bloomingdales. Retail.

Starbucks Amsterdam “The Bank” Concept Store. Starbucks, a Seattle coffee brand with humble beginnings, has been making significant strides as of late to break creative boundaries with its architectural advances and build-outs. Having recently pulled the curtain on an impressive Starbucks Fukuoka by Kengo Kuma, the latest concept store develops out of Amsterdam and is being touted under the moniker, “The Bank.” Designed under the direction of its Dutch-born Concept Store Design Director, Liz Muller, The Bank boasts a less-than-modest floor plan that spans 4,500 square feet and is made from a range of locally-sourced and sustainable materials. Gathering its name from the former historic bank vault, the interior of the shop serves as a testing ground for the coffee giant to test out new brews, blends and concoctions within an equally as experimental environment.

COMPLEX CITY shared with us their Wine Concept Store which is focused around three basic concepts: the vertical, the visual, and sensitivity. The image of the vine and its linearity are the starting point of this verticality that is reflected in the facade while the curve expresses a sensitivity related to a sensory awareness that takes place during the taste of wine. Dubai malls to open round the clock during Eid Al Adha | Retail360 ...International Retail Consultants. Dubai malls to open round the clock during Eid Al Adha DUBAI // Malls in Dubai will stay open around the clock for two weeks starting from October 18 as part of Eid Al Adha festivities. According to Wam, the state news agency, shops, restaurants, cinemas and arcades will stay open 24 hours a day, an extension from previous plans to run the festivities from October 26 to 29.

It is hoped the extension will bring in a large number of tourists, particularly from the Gulf, who usually add to the Eid rush during the holidays. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who ordered the extension, said he welcomes brothers and sisters from the Gulf and around the world to enjoy the “hospitality and unique culture experience that Dubai will offer this Eid”.

“Families are the building blocks of our society, and we want even more of them to enjoy the celebratory spirit of Eid here in Dubai,” Sheikh Mohammed said. Like this: Like Loading...
