Do Objective Moral Values Exist? Do objective moral values exist?

Do Objective Moral Values Exist?

Many people in our culture today would say that they do not. Morality, says the moral relativist, is constructed by individuals or societies; what is moral for you might not be moral for me. In contrast, the claim of moral realism is that there are objective moral values which specify concepts like good and evil, right and wrong, and which transcend cultures and individuals. To my surprise, I found very little information on the Internet presenting evidence for moral realism, in spite of the fact that it is the majority position of academic philosophers. Although I do believe that we can have immediate personal knowledge through our conscience that objective moral values exist, I believe that there are also several pieces of objective evidence to support this position. Retrocausality. A thought experiment in philosophy of science based on elements of physics, addressing whether the future can affect the present and whether the present can affect the past Retrocausality, or backwards causation, is a concept of cause and effect in which an effect precedes its cause in time and so a later event affects an earlier one.[1][2] In quantum physics, the distinction between cause and effect is not made at the most fundamental level and so time-symmetric systems can be viewed as causal or retrocausal.[3][page needed] Philosophical considerations of time travel often address the same issues as retrocausality, as do treatments of the subject in fiction, but the two phenomena are distinct.[1] Philosophy[edit] Philosophical efforts to understand causality extend back at least to Aristotle's discussions of the four causes.

Physics[edit] Relativity[edit] Quantum physics[edit] Many-worlds interpretation. The quantum-mechanical "Schrödinger's cat" theorem according to the many-worlds interpretation.

Many-worlds interpretation

In this interpretation, every event is a branch point; the cat is both alive and dead, even before the box is opened, but the "alive" and "dead" cats are in different branches of the universe, both of which are equally real, but which do not interact with each other.[1] The many-worlds interpretation is an interpretation of quantum mechanics that asserts the objective reality of the universal wavefunction and denies the actuality of wavefunction collapse. Many-worlds implies that all possible alternate histories and futures are real, each representing an actual "world" (or "universe").

In layman's terms, the hypothesis states there is a very large—perhaps infinite[2]—number of universes, and everything that could possibly have happened in our past, but did not, has occurred in the past of some other universe or universes. Origin[edit] Outline[edit] The Present - Universal Truth - The Ultimate Truth. A man should look for what is and not for what he thinks should be.

The Present - Universal Truth - The Ultimate Truth

Albert Einstein Truth you can check: It is as matter of fact as the ground and as useful as food. It's the kind of truth that can make hate and war as unnecessary as ignorance. Charles Darwin revealed how evolution works, but not what it really means. Evolution is no longer just a theory; it has been proven true beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence says we evolved as life evolved. Temporal paradox. Grandfather paradox. Top: original billiard ball trajectory.

Grandfather paradox

Middle: the billiard ball emerges from the future, and delivers its past self a strike that averts the past ball from entering the time machine. Bottom: the billiard ball never enters the time machine, giving rise to the paradox, putting into question how its older self could ever emerge from the time machine and divert its course.

The grandfather paradox is a paradox of time travel in which inconsistencies emerge through changing the past.[1] The name comes from the paradox's common description: a person travels to the past and kills their own grandfather before the conception of their father or mother, which prevents the time traveller's existence.[2] Despite its title, the grandfather paradox does not exclusively regard the contradiction of killing one's own grandfather to prevent one's birth. Early examples[edit] Variants[edit] Murphy's law. Murphy's law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.

Murphy's law

History[edit] The perceived perversity of the universe has long been a subject of comment, and precursors to the modern version of Murphy's law are not hard to find. Recent significant research in this area has been conducted by members of the American Dialect Society. ADS member Stephen Goranson has found a version of the law, not yet generalized or bearing that name, in a report by Alfred Holt at an 1877 meeting of an engineering society.

Summer hate! Ever since 5th of May, give or take one day, everyday I think how much I hate summer at least once a day and tonight I finally asked myself the golden question in matters of human behavior, why? I guess I find the sweating disgusting and uncomfortable but it can't be that, I remember loving summer, and who doesn't, after all it's not just sea, beaches, drinking, food and sex, summer represents school vacation, the two words that meant happiness ever since we got into school. So why do I hate summer, and why am I not the only one, did summer jobs ruin summer for me or maybe bad memories. Then an answer popped into my head and I knew it was true, "I hated that people were happy for no fucking reason".
