Ricky Breslin — Thoughts on Business, Tech, and Life. Go Try That. Best of. April 25th, 2011 Ok, I have a confession to make. I have spent almost my whole life– 31 years– caring far too much about offending people, worrying if I’m cool enough for them, or asking myself if they are judging me. I can’t take it anymore. It’s stupid, and it’s not good for my well being. Today, ladies and gentlemen, is different. We’re going to talk about the cure. Do you wonder if someone is talking shit about you? Well, it’s time you started not giving a fuck. FACT NUMBER 1. Yes, it’s really happening right at this moment.

What people truly respect is when you draw the line and say “you will go no further.” Right. Regular people are fine– you don’t actually hear it when they’re talking behind your back. Thankfully, that’s not actually true. FACT NUMBER 2. This stuff is crazy, I know, but it’s cool, you’ll get used to it. How liberating this is may not even hit you yet, but it will.

You know when they say “the best revenge is a life well lived”? FACT NUMBER 3. Relationships are weird. Introducing a Smug Pig, a Happy Horse – and Monika I’ll come to the animals in a minute, but first, what time do you wake up? A couple of weeks ago I spent a night in London at the Hilton as I had to do a day’s training the next day. I rose at 4.30 to have a bit of a worry looked out of the window and got a splendid view of London’s Victoria station. I then spent ten minutes vainly seeking a kettle. Eventually I found it, carefully hidden away.

Monika, on reception said “There should be.” I said, “Well, there aren’t.” So she brought me some, as she was doing her rounds with the newspapers. When I checked in the night before they gave me a welcome cookie, which I didn’t need, and told me I had to pay for breakfast. They also told me it would be cheaper to book the breakfast then than if I waited till morning.

From all that I learned the following: On balance I decided that Monika – who like a lot of other excellent people here is from Poland – is a lot more use than they are. I showed him. Why did this simple review site sell for $600K? Last week I interviewed Thomas Smale, a broker from Flipping Enterprises who are one of the UK’s leading middle-tier brokers of web and digital businesses. We intended to cover tactics to help you get more when you sell your site, but ended up covering a whole lot more thanks to our inherently British ability to ramble.

Develop a plan based on the amount of time you can spend on getting traffic and developing the site Build a significant social following: – Investors love a site that doesn’t rely on Google - It’s easier to assist people to spread the word for you via Social media rather than investing time in linkbuilding – Genuine social traffic generally tells a buyer that the site’s content is good quality. Put a good system in place that makes the business easy to run. In parts, the audio is a little patchy thanks to my terrible home internet connection (the office would have been too noisy anyhow!) Affiliate Marketing – The SMART Way — Super-Affiliates Work Smarter – Not Necessarily Harder… It’s Been a Good Ride, Folks… March 25th, 2014 · 108 Comments It’s been a good ride, folks – but I’m done with affiliate marketing. And honestly – I more or less “checked out” over a year ago at this point. Does this mean affiliate marketing is dead? No. Definitely not. I personally know people still doing 6 and 7 figures with AM. And I still see plenty of opportunity for affiliate marketing on an integrative level, in tandem with more leveraged models. So, don’t worry. So I guess it’s more accurate to say that affiliate marketing – at least traditionally speaking – simply doesn’t interest me anymore.

There’s a number of reasons for this… which I’ll get into shortly. I Need to Apologize for Completely Disappearing for a Full Year I admit – that was a bit of an asshole move. Which is actually more involving than you might think. But I assure you… as you’ll soon see – it’s been worth the wait. I won’t drag this out into a monolith explanation – mostly because I don’t need to. Bottom line? Alright. Check Your Email. About me. Thank you for reading Legal Nomads. I am a former lawyer who has spent the last many years traveling (and eating!) My way around the world. This site began as a travel blog for my family and friends when I quit my job in 2008 and took off to see the world. I thought I would travel for a year, and wanted to post photos and share crazy stories so that my loved ones could follow along from afar.

Over eight years later… A return to my old job never happened, and Legal Nomads grew with each passing year of travel. About Legal Nomads Legal Nomads started as a vaguely chronological recounting of my time living and eating abroad. Over the years, Legal Nomads evolved from a personal blog to a multi-focused platform for food, stories, and photography. If you are new to the site, you might want to start with:my Best Articles page, which is divided by topic.the World Travel Resources Page, which hopefully serves as a starting point for those feeling overwhelmed with travel planning.
