Founded after WWII by a Chaplain from the 101st Airborne, the church has always been a no-nonsense place. Then again, it's not really a place at all. It's a community of churches spread primarily throughout the Adams Morgan neighborhood in Washington, DC, focused not on consumer religious consumption, but rather on personal and social transformation -- with jaw-dropping results. This 17-minute short film is one one of the churches in the community, New Community. It was assembled from some of the 30+ hours of footage I've already collected, and is also available on DVD from Amazon.com.

Though it is quite rough in the beginning (I was under strict orders not to film strangers on the street), I am particularly proud of this piece because of how well the church feels it represents them. That said, we worked long and hard to scrounge up 10 Horror films worthy of recognition in 2008 and believe me, it wasn’t easy. 10. Jack Brooks Monster Slayer The horror-comedy is quickly getting to be old-hat in most books, but Jack Brooks manages to kick some serious ass in the vein of Army of Darkness. 9.
