This cartoon from our friend Tom Fishburne , "marketoonist" extrordinaire, was perfectly timed this week. With the Kony 2012 video becoming the most viral video of all time -- 100 million views in 6 days -- I'm wondering if it has renewed demands by the C-suite that their team get them a viral video ASAP. Smart marketers know that producing a video that spreads like Kony 2012 is like catching lightening in a bottle. http://www.churchofthecustomer.com/

Church of the Customer Blog

By Steven Pressfield | Published : April 4, 2012 In the past few weeks we’ve been talking about risk, specifically the universe of hazard that the artist and entrepreneur willingly and consciously inhabit. We’ve talked about operating on two tracks—the commercial track and the pure-soul track—and about betting on yourself. Today I want to take the discussion deeper into the realm of nuts and bolts. There's a reason why the company always picks up the check http://blog.stevenpressfield.com/

The Board Meeting is the primary way that Boards function. This post is about making Board meetings effective and helpful for everyone involved. A Board cannot be effective if it doesn't get together frequently. Some Boards meet monthly. I like that approach when the Company is young and there are a lot of changes happening frequently. But for most companies, a monthly Board meeting will be overkill.

Rules Of Thumb Book

For those of you who don't recognize the reference, it was former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill who famously said, "All politics is local." The economic base of Santa Fe has been a three-legged stool: it's the capital of the state, so there are government jobs; it is a tourist destination; and it has had a booming real estate business for people looking for second homes or a place to retire. Cutting across these categories is the art market: Santa Fe boasts a large community of artists and a concentration of art galleries and artistic events, from the Indian Market to the Santa Fe Opera. But the last couple of years have been tough. State government has been starved for funds; tourists aren't coming to visit, and if they do come, they've curtailed their spending; and real estate, well, you know that story--that's the cause of much of the pain in the first place.
Sydney, AHRI, 27 March 2012 I spoke in Sydney on 27 March to members of the Australian Human Resources Institute. This is my first seminar in a long while exclusively devoted to "people issues." Hence you may find it of general interest—it's my "last word"—for now!—on this premier enterprise topic.

P roblems always come in pairs. There’s the immediate problem that must be fixed. Then there’s the problem behind the problem—the breakdown in the process, the policy, or the people that led to the problem. If you don’t take time to fix both, you’ll end up with the same problem happening again and again.
