And even if you don’t come up with a picture to cure world poverty you can make someone smile while they’re having a piss.” ― Banksy, Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall Some of the most potent political and social reactions have been the subjects of subversive countercultures. Right from the hippie culture to the controversial skinheads. But while they have dominated with their lifestyles, expression through the medium of art has always been appreciated by social observers around the world.

Perhaps it is the universality of the pleasure one derives from aesthetically pleasing visuals that help make these reactions so relatable to all. Or you must have noticed the word Beanbag sprawled across walls, with a phone number under it, which turned out to be nothing but an advertising move for actual beanbag manufacturers. But as the big parties work out their alliances before the 2014 general election, there are a whopping 1,593 "registered unrecognised parties" on the sidelines, hailing from every possible corner of India, listed with the Election Commission. This gargantuan list represents hundreds of communities, causes and ideologies – there’s the All India Homeless People Congress, the Nari Shakti Party, the Consumer Party of India and even the National Tiger Party.

Some have rather sublime names, like the Best Class Party, Life Peaceful Party and the Front of Revolutionised Creative Efforts. Here, we bring you a list of some curiously named parties that are also active online. 1. No, it’s not an invitation to an evening of scandalous revelry. 2. SenseDrink @ New Delhi. Priced at $10 (Rs 560), weighing 120gm and named the 'Little Sun', it could be all the rage among both the rich and poor, hopes the 45-year-old artist who collaborated with engineer-friend Frederik Ottesen to make the lamp. In Mumbai all manner of vintage items can be found. Horn-rimmed spectacles and faded film posters, hand-painted sweet box tins and cool watch fobs just wait to be discovered. Vinyl records? Over the years, Sushil Anand, a sexagenarian Mumbai audio enthusiast and India distributor of the ProJect brand of turntables, knows this all too well. An audiophile, Anand once owned 1,900 records, but, sadly, gave them all away. He now says it was the "biggest mistake of his life," because the demand for vinyl is surging in India.

This year, Anand opened Nova Audio, a vinyl-only record store. Across town, Arjun Ravi, founder of a young indie music website, has been hosting regular vinyl sessions in Bandra since April. Nova Audio: Unique audio store Listener comfort is emphasized at Nova Audio. Unlike a traditional audio store though, one won’t find endless rows of music here. Others say it’s the physicality of the music that’s attractive. RANJISH HE SAHI - MEHDI HASAN.
