I work with many teachers that are interested in using podcasting as both a teacher and student directed tool within their classrooms. However, they all share a common roadblock: insufficient time to learn how to create, edit, develop and share a podcast. As a solution to that roadblock I suggest that teachers use Gcast, an online tool that allows users to create podcasts by placing a toll free call or uploading an audio file. My focus will be creating a podcast via a phone call because it can be done in just a few minutes and it eliminates the use of additional software, editing skills and the need to own a microphone.

Ein tolles und unglaublich reichhaltiges Angebot bieten da Webcasts von Univorlesungen und Vorträgen. Einige gute Quellen für solche Webcasts will ich hier kurz nennen. Wie immer ist das Angebot in englischer Sprache größer aber es gibt auch in deutscher Sprache ein paar Angebote. So bietet zum z.B. die Berkeley University viele Kurse als Webcast direkt zum Ansehen an und oftmals sogar die Foliensätze der Vorlesungen zum download dazu.
Besonders interessant für uns Informationsspezialisten ist vielleicht die Vorlesungsreihe “Search Engines: Technology, Society, and Business” aus dem Wintersemester 2005, zu der Berkeley eine ganze Reihe interessanter Gastredner geladen hatte oder die Vorlesung zum Thema “Open Source Development and Distribution of Digital Information: Technical, Economic, Social, and Legal Perspectives” .
