I've been on both sides of board meetings: as the entrepreneur (a.k.a., the “victim”) and as the board member (a.k.a., the “heavy”). These tips apply to startups, established companies, and--with very little modification--to school boards, church elders, and not-for-profits. Don't surprise your board. Pre-sell as much as you can. Present solutions, not questions. Use them.
