What I Believe. I believe that Agile software development, with its focus on iterative planning, retrospectives, refactoring and teamwork, can help lawyers become better advocates, advisers, judges, peace and rule makers.

What I Believe

I believe that Lean manufacturing, with its clarity around reduction of waste, minimizing work in progress and reducing friction in work flows, can inform lawyers seeking to provide better service, however they choose to manifest their legal practice. I believe that Complex Adaptive Systems thinking, with its emphasis on operation, adaptation, feedback loops and emergent innovation, can help lawyers better define their social value within the context of building a just and democratic society. I believe that porting Agile, Lean and CAS concepts, practices, patterns, philosophy and personas into the practice of law will support a more robust and democratic legal ecosystem by supporting lawyers and other legal knowledge-workers as they move forward to keep pace with a global society.

How analytics tools can help agencies sharpen e-discovery

The Rules, which govern the procedures of all civil actions brought in the Federal District Courts, have been in effect since 1938. Nevertheless, the task of satisfying the Rules’ discovery provisions has lately become increasingly difficult. In a recent survey of federal legal professionals, far fewer respondents than in previous years felt confident that agencies could show that their electronically stored information (ESI) is “accurate, accessible, complete and trustworthy.” Such a conclusion is not altogether shocking given the challenges to the discovery process from the sheer growth of information and locations where relevant, responsive data could be found.

Furthermore, those expectations will probably be heightened in the coming years as new Rule changes come into play. Agile Community Content on InfoQ. Research on Agile What are the most widely used .NET practices and tools?
