The Marines behind Montage 2.0. Photo credit: YouTube Being an American Marine in Afghanistan isn’t fun – it’s hot, it’s dusty, and there are a lot of people trying to kill you. So, when they aren’t in action, it’s understandable that US servicemen need to unwind, let off a little steam. Here’s the latest spoof music video from the guys who brought you their unique take on Britney Spears’s “Hold It Against Me.”

This is a superbly created piece of animation which captures the imagination. The world is monochrome until an invisible hand starts to color it in. While we normally wouldn’t embed adverts like this in to Kuriositas, our French readers are such a small minority that this could not be mistaken for a plug for the channel, so we let it slip in. It is such a lovely piece of work, how could we fail to allow it some space? The byline at the end translates as TV and the height of their imagination. http://www.kuriositas.com/2011/05/why-panda-is-black-and-white.html

Wow! I love this idea of creating a sequential row of animation cells on ballons and then popping them to bring it to life. Genius idea by Director, Dulcidio Caldeira for MTV.

Sally Shalam, a regular contributor at the Guardian , is an experienced travel writer with a strong focus on tourism in the United Kingdom . Her archive at the Guardian is full of wonderfully detailed reviews of accommodations across the UK. Many of these reviews are republished on Shalam's website, Sally Shalam's Britain , which organizes her reviews into helpful categories – my personal favorites: Pubs with Rooms and Urban Bed & Breakfast . A: I have been a journalist all my working life, but it was at the Daily Telegraph that the travel editor spotted me coming to work with a rucksack. http://www.gadling.com/
